Sounds like standard procedure, this has been going on ever since we began to speak. First it was US and THE OTHER TRIBE on the other side of the big hill.

We have observed chimps going on raids for meat, so I think it's older than humans by a long shot. Killer apes with nuclear weapons. Now there's a pretty picture.

I know Chimps kill and eat monkeys; and I know Chimps kill Chimps from rival groups; but I'm not sure I've ever heard that Chimps eat other Chimps after they kill them. I thought they just killed them and left them (and maybe horribly dismember them for fun).

It would actually be nicer if they had killed them for food rather than just a pissing contest. But I've seen footage of them attacking a neighboring band, capturing a baby and eating it after bringing it back alive to their "camp".

It is possible chimps don't view a baby chimp the same way as they do an adult. After all, there are many otherwise social animals that will eat their own babies in extreme circumstances (to reclaim some of the invested resources where there's little hope of successfully raising the young); and even primitive humans may have done the same.

So it could be there's less of a mental barrier to seeing a baby as simply food.

Clocks can and have been turned back again and again - knowledge has been lost and civilizations slid backwards to be replaced by primitive alternatives. Minorities have usurped power and declared rule time and time again. It isn't even a minority but a vanguard of a population far larger than ours with a history of conversion by rape such as happened in India in the late 40s. I do think the fine clothes and the intellectual talk of the elites can make it appear all are travelling in a progressive direction but history predicts chaos, as real world variables such as oil, food and population demographics conspire to make the perfect global storm. What we need to avoid is giving power to those who would end our 300 year rationalist revolution and replace it with a static religious based society unprepared for climate change and so make ourselves, as a species, even more vulnerable to extinction. Islam as it stands today is dangerous with suicide bombings every day somewhere in the world. Most of the people who commit suicide this way are low status types, many with social or mental health issues, pushed by better educated types who never face justice. Islam is rotten but the people using it to gain power are worse than that.
