Political posterizing redux.
Re: Political posterizing redux.
I don't think Sandi has a position. He reminds me of a guy I knew who would smoke a lot of pot and talk shit about the 'evil government' and its 'plots'.

Well, the first half of your description fits. Not so much with the second half. I don't call anything "evil". As for "plots"...not sure why that is in quotes. You believe that governments never "plot" anything. Are you that naive?Făkünamę wrote:I don't think Sandi has a position. Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

He's just disappoint that he wasn't born in 1945. This means he doesn't get to be that campus radical who wants to "stick it to the man!". It also means he'll never get laid.JimC wrote:Făkünamę wrote:I don't think Sandi has a position. Oh, I wouldn't call you "lame pathetic". I don't respect you enough for that sobriquet.

Re: Political posterizing redux.
Isn't it funny? It makes the point that if you object to pouring water on someone's face to simulate drowning, then one might well have even more of a beef with widespread drones bombing people and blowing them to tiny bits.JimC wrote:OK, I'm a naughty label maker, but like CES, you love the poster, right?sandinista wrote:whatever JimC, how can you label who is "left" or "right"? Interesting how the left and right approach each other on many issues...
You mean, one can't be against drone attacks if one was also against waterboarding? Or, if one was against waterboarding, it's not hypocritical to not be against drone attacks?JimC wrote:
Actually, attacking Obama on this issue from the "left" is at least a hell of a lot less hypocritical than an attack from republican supporters.
So, the middle ground you take is what? Drone attacks are o.k.? Or, do you oppose the drone attacks? Did it depend on who is President?JimC wrote:
EDIT - I gain much reassurance when attacked about equally by you and Seth - extremists of all camps are always fearful of a rational middle ground...

Re: Political posterizing redux.
Drone attacks that kill innocent civilians with the foreknowledge that they are there, or there is a high probability they are there, are bad. M'Kay?
Torture is bad. M'Kay?
Now it's up to you to decide which is more bad. M'Kay?

Anecdotal: I can state that if it weren't for one session of torture I have been dead four decades ago.Făkünamę wrote:Drone attacks that kill innocent civilians with the foreknowledge that they are there, or there is a high probability they are there, are bad. M'Kay?
