I've been working on it, a loooong. time. I'm better about being able to "man up" than I once was. It's never been something I've turned on to get something I want. Besides which, generally, I don't think that works. People find tears really off-putting, for the most part.

LOL -- that's funny, because most guys are like, the minute a woman's water works start going then WE'VE lost the argument. What can you do? At that point, the argument is over.

What's with the emphasis on the winning and losing?
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

I haven't cried since a child. Except that time I lost loads of blood and got weepy (which warned me I was acting out of sorts and should probably call an ambulance at this point). Crying is weird to me. Actually except laughing my arse off, most displays of emotion are weird to me. It's like I can always see myself getting emotional in any way and the emotion just disappears the moment I observe it, like eye floaters. It's as if I have a strict inner homunculus which accepts no nonsense and dominates all the other homunculi.

Well, if there is an argument, that generally means two people have different views on something or there is a dispute on which two people are not in agreement. If one of them is right and the other wrong, then the one who is right is the winner. That's usually how it works.

I've learned over time in life to, when arguing with women, to try as much as possible to take winning and losing out of the equation and concentrating on understanding what she's after or concerned about, and addressing that. And, then, of course, there are the times when she is just upset and there isn't anything I can do about it, in which case there is no winning and losing. Trying to "win" these arguments is generally a guarantee of losing. So, it's best to steer clear of that whole concept.

I can handle women crying. Men crying is what I don't know what to do with.

You never get a little choked up watching a movie?

I cry in movies.

Another lesson for the young guys: don't be a crier around women. But, if played right, you can get some serious mileage out of going to a movie and at a touching moment, let some tears roll out, if you can manage it (sincerely or otherwise) -- just enough to let her notice you do it, and then make weak denials if she brings it up. Chicks dig that. They want you to be hard on the outside, but have a gooey center.... lol (Hades is going to beat me up soon for my rampant generalizing... I love you too, Hades! :smooch: )

I only went to see a movie once with a girl and she picked The Blair Witch project. It was terrible. I vowed never again.

Well, you may condemn yourself to a life without a girlfriend. Most of them like the movies, and if you don't let them pick, they won't be happy. You can pick sometimes, but most of the time they think they're giving you a present when they let you pick. Trust me on that one.

Meh. Doesn't bother me.

Nice idea but really, how often does that happen?

During the movie, yes. But, afterwards, you may get your winky waxed. That's the trade-off.
