http://www.examiner.com/article/ohio-ma ... th-walmartOhio man arrested for cooking meth in Walmart
James Richardson, 37, of Perry, Ohio finds himself arrested for allegedly attempting to manufacture crystal methamphetamine with stolen products while inside a Walmart!
Walmart's security personal silently watched Richardson on the early evening of June 17th gathering the typical ingredients needed to create the dangerous drug. Fox8 says Police Lt. Ken Zbiegien confirms that Richardson then took his items and began mixing them together in a salt shaker. He was doing this to create methamphetamine in a process that is commonly known as "one pot" or "shake and bake." This is the preferred method among many crystal users, and the details of how to do so can be found online with relative ease.
Essentially meth manufacturers have figured out how to reduce the steps required to make the drug down to a single process. Previously there could have been up to 30 steps. This process of creating methamphetamine is extremely dangerous and volatile. Thousands are injured every year typically because of explosions that leave people with burns, disfigurement, loss of limbs and in many cases death.
A survey quoted to The AP shows that a third of patients in burn units were there for injuries sustained by attempting to manufacture methamphetamine. The average cost of a meth burn victim's stay in a hospital averages $130,000 and nearly all do not have insurance.
Richardson was taken into custody as he tried to flee the Walmart near Mentor, OH with the drug mixture in hand and has been charged with theft, and illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine. Shockingly this is not his first offense, and he maintains a lengthy criminal record which includes a disgrace of five felony drug convictions.
He is currently being held in Lake County jail on $75,000 bond. The first scheduled court date is June 25th.

Probably in a federal pound-me-in-the-ass.

What's wrong with the technique of my youth?
Get random white powders, being assured they'll be a blast, mince 'em with a razor blade on a small mirror, and snort through a 10 dollar note...
Classy or what?

I can't help but think of Breaking Bad and how angry Walter White would be at such sloppy chemistry.
But this:
But this:
- is a bit of a surprise to me. Is the problem really on that sort of scale? Before Breaking Bad I'd only vaguely heard of meth.Thousands are injured every year typically because of explosions that leave people with burns, disfigurement, loss of limbs and in many cases death.

In the US, white trash druggies do meth and black trash druggies do crack. Over here, speed and crack have never been displaced by meth.PsychoSerenity wrote:I can't help but think of Breaking Bad and how angry Walter White would be at such sloppy chemistry.

Louis Theroux did a thing on the meth problem in the US. Worth the watch, imo. Eye-opening shit.

Yeah that epidode's excellent.FBM wrote:Louis Theroux did a thing on the meth problem in the US. Worth the watch, imo. Eye-opening shit.

I've often wondered if Louis is related to Henry Theroux. That would be excellent, though I don't really know why.

I showed that episode to my (now ex) girf, and she wouldn't believe it was true. Nobody over here ever sees that side of the US. They tend to think we're always smiling, all middle-class and living in luxury.
I think Henry Dave was a Thoreau, though. But you never know. People dick around with spelling.

I was dealing with meth heads in the '80s. One of the things I did with the deserter apprehension team was collect sailors who were caught up in "speed" and weren't coming to work any more. We were also handy for "probably cause" raids. At one place I found one sailor and the cops made over a dozen other arrests.

This incident is a bizarre and sad story rooted in a huge and horrible problem. But I have to admit, my first thought also was "what would Walter think?"PsychoSerenity wrote:I can't help but think of Breaking Bad and how angry Walter White would be at such sloppy chemistry.

You mean Henry Thoreau?Pappa wrote: I've often wondered if Louis is related to Henry Theroux. That would be excellent, though I don't really know why.

His father is American, though - travel writer Paul Theroux.

It's a huge problem. Some news websites run 'faces of meth' photo galleries of dozens of unfortunate individuals who have let the drug conquer their lives, it's disgusting.PsychoSerenity wrote:I can't help but think of Breaking Bad and how angry Walter White would be at such sloppy chemistry.

So what ingredients do you need to make shake n bake meth? I ain't gonna make it. I'm just surprised you can make this sort of thing from common easily-gotten materials

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.
