The friends I refer to as "Bert and Ernie" have moved to a place in Montana. I've been getting emails from relatives asking if I knew where they were. I could only reply that I thought they were both still alive, as of the date of the last email from them.

They probably have money in the bank to afford this, which puts a lie to the idea that they are cutting themselves off from society, they're just putting themselves into time out.

My relatives do the same thing with me. One of them will eventually find my phone number or email and make contact every 6 or 12 months to make sure I am still alive. When I give them the thumbs up, they contact the other rellies and let them know.
