Sweet Jesus. They're about two generations behind us in terms of road safety. And no, that's not racist. It's a statement of fact. I know India has a woeful road accident/death rate, and that makes China look as bad.

I bet driving a bike loaded like that would be a nightmare. I always dreaded passengers that didn't know how to lean. For some reason most people tend to lean the opposite way from what they should.

From what I can see, the bucket has a wire metal handle. Which could have a wooden bit round it, or rope.
And one of the big passengers is holding the handle.
The baby's head appears to be pushed forward by the handle a bit. And the baby's hairstyle matches the baby at the back.
So it all looks pretty genuine to me.
Shit, they might have another baby on the other side, and a rope across the seat.
