Obama - a three term President?

Post by Rum » Mon Jan 07, 2013 6:12 pm

I wasn't aware until recently that the 22nd Amendment was made so recently (1947). Some guy is trying to get it repealed it seems. If so Obama could get a third term! (Roosevelt had 4..)

What do Americans in particular think of this (Obama aside))?

not an american, also not a fan of obama, but am all for eliminating term limits. Terrible idea.
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

I'm undecided. I'd love for Obama to have more terms, but I'm glad Bush didn't. :dunno:

It seems to me the problem with the two term limit is that most of the first term has to be the run up to the campaign for the second term and by the time your in the second term you've got four years. You make a good point Kristie, but I'm not so sure he'd have stayed on anyway.

The Republicans would go berserk if this were to happen with Obama in office. It would be highly entertaining at least.

I like term limits though. I wish we had term limits in Congress. Them fuckers are three days older than dirt.

I'm decidedly indifferent unless a good argument can be made either way.

No term limits in Oz for any individual politician...

Not certain, but it seems to be an uncommon rule in western democracies. Can't see the point of it, myself...

I once had a group project on Putin. We spent most of the presentation showing a slide show of shirtless Putin pics.

Obama's chances depend on whom the idiots put up for the GOP candidacy.

I think somebody should be able to hold office as long as the people want them to. They should have to go up for re-election regularly, of course. If it's not broke, don't fix it.
