He's a Libertarian.
Actually, the world is divided into two groups - Marxists and Seth. It makes debating on the internet really easy.

Re: Untold History of the United States
Complete and utter hogwash. The USSR failed because the United States spent trillions of dollars protecting Europe from the Communists and billions more strengthening our military capability in an arms race that eventually bankrupted the USSR. That's "military intervention" in every sense of the word...it's just military intervention without a shooting war.JimC wrote:
And the main European examples of marxist societies, including the USSR, failed without any military intervention by the west...
Doesn't mean it's goal is not to eventually reach the end-state conditions that Marx set. China is merely using limited capitalism to fund it's military plans. And the Chinese communist party has made it's own transformation into something Lenin would not see as marxist, I suspect...

Re: Untold History of the United States
Oliver Stone? Well, it's bound to be as accurate as the movie "JFK" then. If it's anything like Brad Meltzer's Decoded, and I suspect it is, it'll be quite a treat.sandinista wrote:This may have been posted about already since it's already in episode 8, and pretty sure most of you have heard of this series, but in case you haven't, it's excellent and well worth the watch. I've enjoyed every episode, more thorough than most television shows as well as a lot more honest.

sorry jimc, but your last few posts have been exactly that.Seth wrote:Complete and utter hogwash.
oh man, another person who doesn't know the difference between a fictional film and a documentary, not too surprising thoughCoito ergo sum wrote:Oliver Stone? Well, it's bound to be as accurate as the movie "JFK" then

Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

No no...I am sure it will be as accurate and complete as the documentary series "Brad Meltzer's Decoded."sandinista wrote:oh man, another person who doesn't know the difference between a fictional film and a documentary, not too surprising thoughCoito ergo sum wrote:Oliver Stone? Re: Untold History of the United States
It's a comparison. Given Oliver Stone's chops in this regard, he is about on the same level as Brad Meltzer and I have no doubt that Stone's series is as accurate as Meltzer's.sandinista wrote:wtf is that? Re: Untold History of the United States
what are you talking about? Given Stone's chops in this regard? What regard? Making documentaries? What docs has he made that would make you say that? Meltzer? Who the fuck is that? You make less sense with each post you make.Coito ergo sum wrote:

None. He's used to making movies that bear only a passing resemblance to the truth. Not much reason to expect more now.sandinista wrote:what are you talking about? Given Stone's chops in this regard? He's a novelist and comic book writer, who turned into a documentary maker with his series Decoded. He's a good analogy for Stone, who is a fiction movie maker, who turned documentary filmmaker with this series you're crowing about. Likely they both come within similar ranges to the truth.sandinista wrote:

I'll try to use smaller words next time so you'll be better able to understand.sandinista wrote: You make less sense with each post you make.

actually false on both accounts, no surprise there.Coito ergo sum wrote:None. He's used to making movies that bear only a passing resemblance to the truth. Not much reason to expect more now.
how about just start by attempting to make sense. The size of the words aren't the issue. Let me guess, you are commenting on a film series you haven't even seen. Typical.Coito ergo sum wrote: I'll try to use smaller words next time so you'll be better able to understand.

never understood that...if you are "ignoring" my posts, how come you always reply to them? You're obviously not ignoring them.
