Not read the full list but the solo in the song "Magic, Dance" from the Labyrinth soundtrack makes me want to hurt whoever came up with it.

it kicks in at 4:10 in this clip

Though it may very well be a keyboard :think:

How dare the compilators of this list place the mighty Manowar at number 9!?! Joey DeMaio will, of a certainty, melt the face of everyone concerned in this ignominy. I suspect these people are purveyors of "false metal"......

Fie! thou speakest the truth, yet I fear I must place my sentiments in agreement with the gentlemen of Guitar World, for Sting of the Bumblebee is a truly atrocious excuse for a solo.

I haven't seen that film in years. I remember that song but, I don't remember it being that bad. Fuck that is bad :hehe:

I'm a big Bowie fan so I own more of his stuff than I should, that soundtrack being one of them. That solo is so shockingly shit that it almost makes me wish I didn't have ears.

Judging by the year the film came out, I would almost swear that the solo is played on a Yamaha g707 guitar synth. One of these puppies:

It can be played as a guitar, or as a controller for a MIDI keyboard - which sounds like the case here, as there are fucking horrible jumps between notes instead of smooth bends and slides. Played well, they can create some really unique sounds. This one wasn't played well.

In all fairness I think I remember someone saying that the video of him playing was really from some messing around in the studio, and someone added the crowd's shouts to it to make it look like an actual live. Might be bollocks, though.

Slayer should not ever be on a top 100 worst anything much less a guitar solo list. :evil: Some of it seems a bit nitpicky to me i mean one song was on there because a guitar solo didnt fit into a song oh ffs. :roll:

A couple of bad solo's come to mind:

The solo in "NFB" by Anthrax (even though that was on purpose);
A live solo at a festival from Venom. 2 Minutes of mindless bashing on a guitar.

I hate all guitar solos. I think they're wanky and pretentious - unless Jimmy Hendrix is doing them. :hehe:
