Seems entirely legitimate to me. Argentina was the aggressor.

Their claim to the Falklands is utterly bogus.

One of the last lame gasps of imperialism. Or rather military adventurism.

Oh Imperialism is alive and well, and being actively practiced by a number of states, including, but not limited to China, Russia, Israel, the USA, France, and Germany.

Sometimes benign, sometimes not.

Not sure how killing armed soldiers in war can ever be a war cime unless they were in the process of surrendering

Argentine Rear Admiral Allara, who was in charge of the task force that the Belgrano was part of, said "After that message of 23 April, the entire South Atlantic was an operational theatre for both sides. We, as professionals, said it was just too bad that we lost the Belgrano"
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Dammit, do I need to drag up that quote by Jackie Fisher again? Which just happened to be inspired by submarines ...

"The essence of war is violence. Moderation in war is imbecility ..."

I don't agree with the second bit, but - as highlighted by the quote above from the Argentinian admiral - it was a war zone. The Argentinians would have sunk the QE2 if they had the chance. "End of ..."
God has no place within these walls, just like facts have no place within organized religion. - Superintendent Chalmers

It's not up to us to choose which laws we want to obey. If it were, I'd kill everyone who looked at me cock-eyed! - Rex Banner

The Bluebird of Happiness long absent from his life, Ned is visited by the Chicken of Depression. - Gary Larson

I used that quote in a thread on Hiroshima/Nagasaki recently.
