Answering for Orph, after reading the article, it is suggesting a very disorganised gun store, unsure of its inventory, that is unlikely to be a place that sells dangerous goods responsibly...

Ah. Yeah, that sucks. But at least ATF is all over them.

Apart from all the gun talk what's the bets it'll turn out the kid was severely bullied like many of the others? Maybe it's not just gun control the government want to be looking at but the introduction of anti-bullying laws? :ask:

Oh but the, mainly, Christian right are trying to block that one too so their kids can continue to call gays 'fags', or anyone suspected of being gay ....

The irony of Christian America.

Regardless of what you do as a society a lot of kids will always be bullied and a lot of people are going to be mentally ill , its far easier to restrict inanimate items than people
When only criminals carry guns the police know exactly who to shoot!

Indeed, but it is far better to create a society where people who are bullied and bullies other mentally ill folk get the help and support they need.

And if anybody would know first hand about illegally buying and selling firearms, it's the BATFE. What a corrupt crock of shit that agency is.

Their operations need serious reform from top to bottom considering the illegal trafficking we already know about.

And since neither approach has a realistic chance of 100% success, best to do both.

What infuriates me is that so many gun proponent say "you anti-gun nuts only want to get rid of the guns", when we have clearly said that we also want better access to mental health care, etc. a multipronged approach. But I guess it's easier for gun nuts to ignore anything rational their opponents say and go for the straw man instead.

That's why suppressors should be de-listed from the NFA.

I know. I was a mod here for quite a while. When a thread gets as out of hand as this one, it requires immediate action. Much if the mud slinging that has happened could have been avoided.
Particularly if you and some others had refrained from personalizing the debate and hurling insults at me.

Well I'm sure what infuriates them is people shoving pictures of dead children at them every time some screwball cunt decides to make a name for himself. I understand that, I have been for most of my adult life a moderate recreational drug user. The arguments against drugs are exactly the same as the arguments against guns (oh and while we're at it, alcohol is one of the prime motivators of people to commit violence, how did prohibition go for that? Did we start banning cars because of drunk drivers?)

I understand the prime difference from non-gun users is "they're designed to kill!!!" Well honestly if you wanted to design a machine to kill, cars are pretty effective too. I'm not a gun nut (btw I use that phrase in the same way as film buff, if I offend any gun enthusiast by it, there is my apologies and explanation.) by any means, but I do not trust humanity one bit, the first bottle shaker with a scapegoat and some cash could turn any of our countries into places where the citizenry may need weapons against their Governments, practically overnight.
