And similarly, if one has to face a deranged murderer armed with a rifle and a high-capacity magazine, it behooves you to be at least as well-armed as he is, if not more so, which means that you should have a magazine with at least as much capacity as his so that you can return fire and keep him from killing children.

Wouldn't it have been nice if the Principal Dawn Hochsprung had a select-fire Colt M-4 assault rifle and body armor with spare mags in a locker in her office that would have allowed her to defend the children in her school against a deranged killer with a semi-automatic rifle with something besides her fucking bare hands!

She and school psychologist Mary Sherlach, as well as the other adults killed at the school were forced to defend the kids with their bare hands and bodies. How incredibly fucking STUPID is that, to force the people responsible for the safety of our children to take on armed killers without any weapons or protection at all.

Those adults are some of the bravest and most courageous people I've ever seen, and they will live in my memory forever for doing the very best they could possibly do given the tools, or lack thereof, that they had available to them. I would give anything to have been in the office with my handgun when that asshole showed up, because his killing spree wouldn't have been nearly as easy as it was, and he might well have been ended right then and there. But I wasn't there, just like I wasn't at Columbine, and it breaks my heart that I wasn't, and that no other armed citizen was there, or even ALLOWED to be there to defend those kids.

That's shameful and a blot on our collective conscience.

You can bloviate all you like, but unlike cowards like you, I'm willing to die to protect the innocent using my lawfully-carried firearm and I've trained for years to respond properly in such situations. A handgun is perfectly adequate to take down someone armed with a semi-automatic assault weapon or a machine gun, or an RPG, it just has to be applied using proper tactics and marksmanship.

I don't know about you, but I have no trouble hitting a human target at 50 yards with my handgun, and one round in the right place is all it takes to terminate the threat.

Yes, I'd rather face a semi-automatic rifle with a high capacity magazine with an M4 fully-automatic assault rifle, or better yet my LaRue .308 OBR semi-automatic rifle with a 20 round magazine than with a handgun, but in a pinch a handgun used properly will do the job just as well, and perhaps better in CQB, being somewhat easier to manipulate around corners that offer cover.
