Re: 27 dead at Connecticut school, including 14 kids
On American gun ownership.
88 guns per 100 citizens.
However, only 30% own guns. The thing is that gun owners tend to be multiple gun owners. If guns had a legitimate use, you would expect one, or at most, two, guns per owner. A hunting rifle or a shotgun. But the minority of american who are gun owners tend to own multiple guns.
According to several of the internet references I have read, most Americans actually do not care for guns, and are opposed to loose gun laws. The minority is, however, very vocal, and acts as a voting bloc to oppose the wishes of the majority.

For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.
Re: 27 dead at Connecticut school, including 14 kids
How about the real issue which is number of hand guns.
Including shotguns and non- assault rifles owned by those that have a legitimate use for them is just a fav trick to disguise the issues.

Indeed. But the majority does not have the power to infringe upon or remove the rights of the minority by tyranny of the majority vote. Our system is specifically set up that way as it pertains to constitutional rights. To remove the right to keep and bear arms would require submitting an amendment brought by a two-thirds majority of the House and Senate which is then sent for ratification by three-fourths of the state legislatures, or two-thirds of the states can call a constitutional convention to propose an amendment which is then submitted for ratification by three-fourths of the states.Blind groper wrote:On American gun ownership.

So, one-third (and I think it's closer to one-half) of the public who own guns, combined with those who don't own guns but still support the RKBA and the 2nd Amendment, can indeed block the rest from taking away that right. That's how it's set up here.
We are NOT a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic that uses some limited democratic processes in passing laws. The Founders expressly set things up to AVOID the US becoming a democracy because they knew better than you do that democracy is nothing more or less than the tyranny of the majority.

Sorry, that ship already sailed. The Supreme Court, in Heller, ruled that the RKBA is an INDIVIDUAL right not predicated on membership in the militia and that self defense is one of the prime purposes of preserving the RKBA. The efficacy of the militia and its preparation for being called to duty by Congress is one of the OTHER intents of the 2nd Amendment, but not the only one.Tero wrote:Wait till the supreme court makes you form a militia, Seth. Nah, I just felt like insulting you back. That's what I do when bitches deliberately insult me first. It's my way of saying "fuck you, bitch" to ignorant bitches.Kristie wrote:Wow, you and Gallstones really are alike. Pretty sad, actually. I don't invest much time, much less emotion arguing with dumb bitches because they are stupid worthless whores and cunts who have nothing interesting or intelligent to say and ought to be kept pregnant and wrapped up in a big black bag and whipped soundly when they have the temerity to speak.
Of course no one but an ignorant whore bitch would think that I am referring to all women, most of whom are fine, respectable, polite, worthy, capable, and entirely the equal of any man... like Gallstones for example. I'm just referring to the ignorant bitches.
So, which are you...ignorant cuntish bitch whore or respectable and honorable woman and human being?
I'd really like to know because you sound very much like a bitch.
Just because you think you can get away with deliberately insulting me without any repercussions doesn't mean it's true.

Ignorant pettifoggery. As I specifically said, all semi-automatic firearms operate the same way, one trigger pull, one round fired. How exactly they load the round and set off the primer is utterly irrelevant. And no, an AR-15 is no more or less "lethal" than a Mini-14 merely because it has ergonomic features the Mini-14 doesn't. In these sorts of attacks any semi-automatic firearm that can be fired at close range will do the job equally as well, including semi-automatic handguns, which being of larger caliber are probably MORE lethal than the .223 round. A .45 is much more deadly than a .223/5.56mm NATO round because that round is primarily intended to WOUND an enemy combatant, not necessarily kill him. This is because wounding an enemy soldier ties up at least two other soldiers to care for and evacuate him, as opposed to a dead soldier who can simply be abandoned. That's why the Geneva Accords require that military forces ONLY use full-metal jacket ammunition. Expanding ammunition is unlawful under the Laws of War.Făkünamę wrote:No they don't. The AR-15 is a weapons system, it was designed as such, when outfitted for close quarters combat (like the one I posted a pic of) it becomes a much more lethal weapon in that situation than a rancher mini 14. It's all about the ergonomics (which have fuck all to do with comfort).Seth wrote:Indeed they did, but I'm not the moron here, you are.
