Sky show on tonight - Geminids Dec 13/14

Cloudy all night - should have gone out the night before when it was clear and maybe caught an early one.

Not quite as spectacular as a couple years ago where I chatted with another pilot while watching the show - Leonids maybe but was worthwhile and even caught a nice one just on the way home despite all the city lights.

It's all a conspiracy, I'm sure of it. I just went and stood on the roof for about 10 minutes and saw ZERO. I went out for a drive this arvo and did a reccy and found a good elevated spot to take photos from. But now I'm wondering if I should bother. And the bloody clouds are moving in again. Geminid meteor shower - worst stellar experience of 2012. :grumpy:

figure those visible ones were about one a minute and certainly the big ones brighter against a very dark zenith.

The Leonids are famous because their meteor showers, or storms, can be, and have been in a few cases, among the most spectacular. saw a few tonight. Of course the best one I saw was when I wasn't photographing. The rest were generally pretty small. But I did get one really special treat - two right next to each other following the same trajectory, but one delayed by a half second or so! Captured the first one on camera, and then stopped the exposure. D'oh!
