Peeing in public.
Please note the forum this is posted in.
A few weeks ago Ayaan and I went to a movie. Afterwards I went to the restroom. It was a standard layout, two stalls, two urinals. When I came out of my stall I saw an adult male holding the hand of what I presume was his kid. Another slightly older kid was using a urinal, and next to him was another adult male.
(Where the hell am I going with this? Coming up.)
The child whose hand was being held was a girl, maybe 4-5 years old. She was watching the proceedings wide-eyed, and, to my mind, a bit stunned and confused.
My question is for the parents here: Would you take a small girl into a busy men's room?

Re: Peeing in public.
Depends on how bad the kid had to go! I take my son (5) into the ladies room, but now that my daughter is 8, she can go into the ladies room by herself. She did go into the mens room with hubby until she was about 5 though.
Re: Peeing in public.
If the kid is too young to hold it and really has to go, then absolutely I'd take them in. I've never been in a restroom that was really busy with one of my kids, but either way I'd just wait for a stall and go in there with them.

I was struck by the girl's expression. I don't know if it was just "forbidden" ground or way too much information for her age.
Re: Peeing in public.
My girls have seen my boy naked plenty of times. And they know exactly how he pees. I'm sure they're not going to be damaged by that knowledge.

No idea of this girl's history, so I don't know for sure what the upset was, but it was there. Last time I saw that face there were several rifles pointed at the kid.Ian wrote:My girls have seen my boy naked plenty of times. And they know exactly how he pees. But that was long ago and far away.

It was probably just that it was a big new place with a lot going on.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:I was struck by the girl's expression. I don't know if it was just "forbidden" ground or way too much information for her age.
You know, Sprog's going to have to be coming in with me to the restroom for the next few years (and by few, I probably mean seven or so.) Not only if he needs to go and I'm the only one with him, but if I need to-- I'm not leaving him to stand outside somewhere in New York City all by himself just because it's weird somehow to bring a boy into the women's room.
I imagine Dad in your scenario was in a similar situation.

You don't know-- she might have had a tantrum right before going in to the restroom, or lost a pet, or saw a squirrel get hit by a car... all sorts of reasons she might have been upset that had nothing to do with being in the men's room.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:I was struck by the girl's expression. She wasn't petulant, more TMI.hadespussercats wrote:You don't know-- she might have had a tantrum right before going in to the restroom, or lost a pet, or saw a squirrel get hit by a car... all sorts of reasons she might have been upset that had nothing to do with being in the men's room.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:I was struck by the girl's expression. You don't know why she had the expression she had. And it's likely you're projecting.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:She wasn't petulant, more TMI.hadespussercats wrote:You don't know-- she might have had a tantrum right before going in to the restroom, or lost a pet, or saw a squirrel get hit by a car... all sorts of reasons she might have been upset that had nothing to do with being in the men's room.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:I was struck by the girl's expression. I don't argue you could tell she was upset, and she was looking around. But you don't know more than that unless you interacted with her somehow.

Re: Peeing in public.
Safer to bring her in with him than leave her outside unattended, I guess. Nudity isn't that big a deal to me (although I'm not sure she saw anything here except guys standing with their backs to her at urinals), but maybe in her family (as in many families, including mine while growing up), nudity is more unusual. Maybe she saw something that day she doesn't usually see. But maybe her dad didn't have much of a choice but to bring her in

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

I think dad needs to take his kids to the zoo more often, or a farm. At least show more nature documentaries at home. I grew up on a farm
and I can't remember being shocked by the fact that girls/women don't have schlongs.

I imagine the "two udders" bit was confusing, though.FBM wrote:I think dad needs to take his kids to the zoo more often, or a farm. At least show more nature documentaries at home. I grew up on a farmand I can't remember being shocked by the fact that girls/women don't have schlongs.
