The Thread Where Conservatives Complain About...
...Corporations and the Very Wealthy.

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

It would be preaching to the converted, here. I post about it a lot where my conservative acquaintances can read it.

But hey, this one's too good to pass up. Posted this to my Google+ stream earlier today:
Basically by cutting its employees' health insurance, Walmart, one of the biggest and most profitable companies in America, gets a subsidy from Obamacare on the backs of of us taxpayers. I guess a million dollar donation to the Obama campaign was a lot cheaper than billions of dollars in health care:

Classic example of how huge companies and their billionaire owners get around the free market with help from the government. Crony capitalism at work.
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government ... -ObamaCareWalmart, the nation’s largest private employer, plans to begin denying health insurance to newly hired employees who work fewer than 30 hours a week, according to a copy of the company’s policy obtained by The Huffington Post. …
Labor and health care experts portrayed Walmart’s decision to exclude workers from its medical plans as an attempt to limit costs while taking advantage of the national health care reform known as Obamacare. Among the key features of Obamacare is an expansion of Medicaid, the taxpayer-financed health insurance program for poor people.

Wal-Mart employees need aid because Wal-Mart won't pay them a living wage. The CEO makes $47,000.00/hr. His employees start at $8.71. Wal-mart won't give their employees the hours to qualify for health care coverage, meaning when you shop there you're getting merchandise that is being handled by people who can't afford, say, Valtrex. And they can't afford to take a sick day.

I often wonder if Obamacare is some sort of plot set up to give Americans the expectation of universal healthcare yet within such a fucked up system that we eventually switch over to a single payer plan or outright socialised medicine.

Yeah yeah yeah. When it turns out it's the Democrats who help out the billionaires and huge corporations, you guys are all for it.

Actually, I'd rather have just gone for full socialised and then backed down and settled for single payer.Warren Dew wrote:Yeah yeah yeah. When it turns out it's the Democrats who help out the billionaires and huge corporations, you guys are all for it.

So they would have to work eight hour shifts for 675 days in a row, almost two years, to earn what he makes in one hour. The CEO makes $47,000.00/hr. His employees start at $8.71.
Company morale must be sky high.

Oh, yes. You can see it in the happy faces. (They have cameras all over the place. Those who do not smile, die.)devogue wrote:So they would have to work eight hour shifts for 675 days in a row, almost two years, to earn what he makes in one hour. The CEO makes $47,000.00/hr.
