Besides, we have huge oil reserves. You do not. :razzle:
LOL -- shift away! Canada exports about 88% of its exports to the US. The rest of the world divvies up the remaining 12%. Roughly. You've got a lot of shifting to do.

Canada exports more to the State of Michigan, than to the rest of the world combined (except the rest of the US). And, Michigan exports almost as much to Canada as the rest of the world combined (except the rest of the US) :tea:
Indeed. But the work is being done. The fact is that the US relies on imports terribly. Canada is an export economy. We'll keep on floatin' long after you sink to the bottom. There's always someone with the coin to buy your stuff around the world - especially when that stuff is oil.

PS. Your numbers are a bit off.. we now export roughly 75% to the US and falling. :tut:

PPS. Oops.. make that less than 72%

Canada? You mean North North Dakota?

That's just the automotive industry moving goods back and forth across the border.

Bear in mind we are 10th of your population and something like 20% of your export market...
Of the 50 U.S. states, 35 count Canada as their number one export market, with Canada ranking in the top three export markets for a further 12 states.

Ahhh...ignorance is bliss.... the US is on track to becoming the world's biggest oil exporter. http://www.economist.com/news/business/ ... ergy-spare

Canada has a negative balance of trade, by the way. The US's balance of trade is much larger, that's true. But, Canada relies on the US to keep a lower balance of trade.

Nonsense. Post a link.

And, even if it were true, the point still stands.

So? I'm not the one claiming is going to be the economic powerhouse of the future in 20-30 years, and that the US will "sink to the bottom."

Again -- I'm merely rebutting Pord's argument. I think trading with and exporting to Canada is fine. But, the reality is that if Canada disappeared, the US would be pretty much fine. If the US disappeared, Canada would be devastated.

If the US disappeared, we'd have Mexicans as our southern neighbours.

If the US disappeared, you'd have a stateless territory as your southern neighbor. The US is the political entity. The land is not the US. :prof:

You Europeans are correct! The US is a HELLHOLE! It's full of rabid pit bulls, crazed psychopathic gunmen and fat people. The only store is Walmart and there's one on every single street corner, along with a bunch of homeless junkies (who we often shoot from our pickup trucks with high powered assault rifles just for shits and giggles). The only restaurant is McDonalds and you're required by law to eat Big Macs 5 times a week. Blacks are kept as slaves and forced to do the work the Mexicans refuse to do. We go to church every morning and sing the Republican Anthem before bed every night. They'll probably KILL me for telling you this.

Don't come here! Please, if you value your sanity, STAY AWAY!
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.
