Well duh.A new Florida law that contributed to long voter lines and caused some to abandon voting altogether was intentionally designed by Florida GOP staff and consultants to inhibit Democratic voters, former GOP officials and current GOP consultants have told The Palm Beach Post.
Republican leaders said in proposing the law that it was meant to save money and fight voter fraud. But a former GOP chairman and former Gov. Charlie Crist, both of whom have been ousted from the party, now say that fraud concerns were advanced only as subterfuge for the law’s main purpose: GOP victory.

Former Florida GOP leaders say voter suppression was reason they pushed new election law

Shouldn't this admission lead to criminal charges?

Only with documentation. And no matter how obvious the scheme is, unless there's a memo floating around somewhere that outlines "Plans to suppress the Democratic vote", this is just former insiders making accusations.

Don't most countries use voter ID cards? I'd support that.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Some countries have national ID cards, there is nothing wrong with voter ID there is everything wrong with expecting individuals to pay for themTyrannical wrote:Don't most countries use voter ID cards? I'd support that.

And then going out of one's way to reduce access to getting said cards, e.g. closing DMV offices in certain areas.MrJonno wrote:there is everything wrong with expecting individuals to pay for them

I already have a voter ID card. It's the same piece of paper I (and everyone else) was given when I registered to vote. On election day I pulled it out, showed it to the poll worker there, and voted.Tyrannical wrote:Don't most countries use voter ID cards? I'd support that.

So unless the FBI gets its hands on internal GOP memos to this effect, or Mitt Romney ponies up in public and says "we tried to cheat millions of voters out of their rights because they didn't want to vote the way we decided they should vote", the architects of this blatant piece of corruption are going to get away with it?Gerald McGrew wrote:Only with documentation. From a criminal standpoint....yep. And they'll only increase their efforts in the coming years.Calilasseia wrote:So unless the FBI gets its hands on internal GOP memos to this effect, or Mitt Romney ponies up in public and says "we tried to cheat millions of voters out of their rights because they didn't want to vote the way we decided they should vote", the architects of this blatant piece of corruption are going to get away with it?Gerald McGrew wrote:Only with documentation. Heh, I don't doubt that for one moment. And that's before factoring in what Katherine Yurica had to say about the Dominionist takeover of the GOP. Add that to the mix, and you're dealing with people who think they're on a mission from Magic Man to take over the country and turn it into a theocratic concentration camp, people who will literally stop at nothing to get their own way. People like Gary North already think that laws don't matter unless those laws conform to their religious fantasies, and furthermore regard themselves as having a duty to torch all of the hard-won treasures of the Enlightenment in order to make their nightmare vision a reality.
Even worse, the hideous thought of resurrecting the most draconian and inhuman strictures of Leviticus, a notion that makes most sane people vomit, gives Dominionists hard-ons, mostly because they think they'll be the one rounding up people they don't like and subjecting them to the New Inquisition. These are people who worship their own hatreds and bigotries, and are prepared to twist scripture in order to provide an entirely synthetic "validation" for said hatreds and bigotries, realising Susan B. Anthony's famous aphorism in a truly scary fashion. If the American people ever let slip their vigilance, and allow the psychopathic Dominionists to fulfil their agenda, the result will not only involve carnage on a scale that will dwarf the Holocaust, but the symbols of Christianity will, as a direct corollary, become even more hated than the Swastika.

Hopefully, a dominionist takeover of the US political system is about as likely as Seth's fantasy of real-life Marxists doing naughty things to his vital bodily fluids...Calilasseia wrote:Heh, I don't doubt that for one moment. Seth can't seem to make a distinction between Democrats and Marxists, so I'm sure it's all very real to him. Hence the bunker with all the food and ammo.JimC wrote: Hopefully, a dominionist takeover of the US political system is about as likely as Seth's fantasy of real-life Marxists doing naughty things to his vital bodily fluids...
