I see that Colorado and Washington states have now made it legal for people to grow pot for their own use, and to smoke it.
I also see that this is still a federal offense. How are they going to reconcile opposite laws applying in the same place at the same time?

Legal cannabis?
For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.

I imagine that local and state police will not bother enforcing the law while federal authorities may or may not make an effort.Blind groper wrote:I see that Colorado and Washington states have now made it legal for people to grow pot for their own use, and to smoke it.

The street cop doesn't enforce health codes usually. It's kinda different, but not necessarily a big conflict.
Personally, I don't think that the Obama administration wants to make an issue of this and will sorta kinda do only what they have to, leaving the next administration to try to resolve the dispute.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

AFAIK it's legal to buy petrol (gas)
and it's legal to sniff it and get out of your box.
But for some reason a) most people don't do that and b) the PoPo have better things to do than run around dealing with idjuts being idjuts.

Perhaps Federal authorities will only interfere if large amounts are being grown and sold...
It would have only been local cops who may have acted on a couple of backyard plants for home consumption...
Now, in those 2 states, they won't...
Sounds sensible to me...

It's going to get fast tracked to the US Supreme Court. Any earlier federal judge that gets it knows it's just going to get appealed up regardless.
I suspect the supreme court will over turn the law. Legalized in two would create too many potential problems in the other forty eight states. Essentially telling them go to the US Congress and President if you want a change.

A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

There has to be a case brought first. Who wants that brought up just now?Tyrannical wrote:It's going to get fast tracked to the US Supreme Court. Any earlier federal judge that gets it knows it's just going to get appealed up regardless.
