I feel this way when we agree (on economic issues) and when we disagree (on religious issues). That the atheists I know seem to be more predisposed to the group thought assery is seriously making me consider if I'm making a mistake backing the Libertarians over the Republicans.
It's not always his opinions that he's expressing. Sometimes he posts and defends outrageous bollocks for the fun of watching the predictable outrage.
Yup. I'm always interested in seeing if there is a person of wit and intelligence out there who can actually formulate a rational, reasoned rebuttal to my outrageous statements. There are very, very few such people out there.
To make him out like he's a victim or to compare what goes on here to actual bullying is rather unfair to real bullying victims I think.
Whether one is harmed or victimized by bullying is irrelevant to whether someone else is a bully. I enjoy revealing bullies for what they are. They are the ones who disparage themselves in doing so. I remain perfectly calm and unruffled by their childish behavior.
In a lot of cases, he gets the reaction he's after for the sake of looking superior to the people he's angered and that's a bit different from someone who speaks what they believe in spite of the negative reaction they might get.
Sometimes yes, but the "sake of looking superior" is all part of the act. Narcissistic personalities like those who berate me hate it the most when someone else claims intellectual superiority over them, and they simply cannot resist trying to make themselves look better by bullying their intellectual betters. They do this because they simply don't have the wit or intelligence to actually argue the issue, but they feel compelled to say something, so they turn to ad hom, inevitably.
It's really quite fun and interesting to watch how easily they can be manipulated.
I'm not excusing anyone else's bad behaviour in reaction to him. But if you judge a person by the nature of the attacks against them, you might as well join A+ and become a disciple of Rebecca Watson.[/quote]
