I would not have minded getting a Nook Simple Touch for $49 at Target, but saving $50 was not worth standing in line for hours in the cold.

It's $59 at Barnes and Noble. You can probably call over there and have them hold it for you behind the counter, then drop by and pick it up. Chances are it'll be $49 or $59 for some other reason on a non-Black Friday day.

It was in-store only. It's just something I want, not something I need. Besides, we have better things to spend money on.

I ordered a pair of jeans from Levis.com that were 40% off and free shipping for today only. Turned out $10 less than the cheapest place I'd found them so it was a good deal. So there's my splurge. Whee.

For what it's worth, half price books does a similar thing, and they don't go around and re-price shit for the sale, so you're making shit up. Methinks you protest too much.

As noted early on, my reason was to spend time with my sisters, and I probably saved over $100 and waited in the cold less than 15 minutes. If you're a moron, Black Friday or no, you'll get taken advantage of.

The Black Friday frenzy was not confined to the inside of the stores Friday, when police in Tallahassee, Fla. said two people were shot in a dispute over a parking space outside a Wal-Mart.

At about 12:30 p.m. police responded to the parking lot after witnesses reporting the gunfire.

Officers found two people injured -- a man and a woman -- who were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. Both are expected to make a full recovery.

Police said the victims were going to the store together when the confrontation with a rival driver began. Both were arguing for the same spot in a busy area when shots rang out.

Authorities declined to provide further details on the incident. Officers were still interviewing witnesses Friday evening.

No arrests have been made, but officers were looking for a dark green Toyota Camry that fled the scene.

Local media reported that the store was temporarily closed but has since reopened.

The shooting was just the latest spate of violence associated with a day that marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season.

The rush for discounted smartphones in a Georgia Wal-Mart on Thursday briefly turned into a melee with people pushing, pulling and ripping packages out of each other's hands before workers restored order.
