Re: Black Friday
Meh. I didn't plan on buying anything last year, but Wally World had a 40" TV for $250, so I went. I certainly wasn't the first in line, but got there in a prudent time frame, stood in line for no more than an hour or so, and got my TV.Gerald McGrew wrote:Went to one of those a couple of years ago, and when I got to the item I wanted, they were sold out because they only had 4 in stock at the advertised price. Learned my lesson...if you can't get to the front of the line, might as well sleep in.
I'm very satisfied and would do it again.

Ugh, no way I want to go out there on that day! Not that I have money to spend anyway...

Re: Black Friday
What, you mean, like, go out to a physical store? HAHAHA!
Oh dear...*gasp*...that's...*wheeze*...that's hilarious

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Re: Black Friday
When my niece and nephews were small (they are now in high school), my sister, mother, and I would get up early and do the Black Friday shopping thing, usually to get some item for the kids. However, I've not done it in years.

Re: Black Friday
Black Friday prices are overall higher than at other times of the year. They offer loss-leader prices that are almost invariably sold out by the time a normal human being gets to the store. And, there is no bargain worth camping out outside a store like an idiot.
Example -- I went to a store last year looking for a laptop to give as a gift. I went on Black Friday afternoon, and wrote down prices. I went back to the store five days later, and it was 25% less expensive AFTER black Friday than on Black Friday.
The stores like to jack the prices up on Black Friday and then give you 20% office the jacked up prices.
However, when demand goes back down after Black Friday, the prices go down.

Meh... Magnavox 40" 1080p at Sam's Club regularly $298. Wait in line for an hour or so for $50 off? No way. Unless the TV is something special, or would normally be like $400 - I'd not bother.

Re: Black Friday
Mostly kids gadgets we would shop for. Maybe Saturday. My kids need ipods but they want expensive ones. I could give 100, they can raise the rest if they want to spend 350.
