Agreed, but at some point you brought up the number of deaths in the US related to guns, and this is relevant to that. In the big picuture, there just aren't enough to justify attempting to implement the policy you propose, given the costs and dangers involved.Blind groper wrote:FBM

Liar. I said fuck 'em if the cost of their survival was the infringement of my right to keep and bear arms.Blind groper wrote:What comes to mind immediately is your stated attitude to those poor, sad individuals who attempt suicide. You said "fuck 'em" and "Let them die." Not a very nice sentiment, and not one that implies any caring for other people.Seth wrote: Yup. Fuck 'em, and fuck you. But you have to be specific about the "'em" I'm discussing if you want to make a rational judgment, which obviously you don't.
Moreover, I specifically stated that I was in favor of getting suicidal people all the psychiatric care they needed...but not at the cost of my right.
You really are a lying sack of shit, you know.

Actually it's about guns used for lawful self defense, not about your paranoid anti-handgun ranting, so quit deliberately derailing the topic.Blind groper wrote:FBM

Exactly. You made it very clear that your own selfish interests were far more important in your mind than their lives. Exactly like a psychopath.Seth wrote:

No, my RIGHTS, and the rights of every other person to be lawfully armed for self defense are far more important than allowing idiots like you to make asinine arguments about prohibiting handguns because a few thousand people may use them to commit suicide. I made it very clear that you are creating a fallacious false dilemma. My ownership of a handgun has absolutely no causative effect on whether or not someone I don't even know a thousand miles away decides to commit suicide. Your infantile prohibitionist argument attempts to link cause and effect to a supposed correlation that doesn't even exist.
Go fuck yourself you ridiculous cunt.Exactly like a psychopath.
As long as you call me a psychopath, I'll call you an ignorant fuckwit without the intelligence to pour water out of a shoe if the instructions were written on the bottom of the heel.If you want to foam at the mouth, delivering extreme insults, feel free.
Neither can I, I just enjoy calling you a fuckwit because that's what you are.As far as I am concerned, they are water off the duck's back. I cannot be emotionally affected by anything someone I do not respect says.

As I told you many times, there are no "rights". There are only privileges such as the government chooses to grant to you, and which they are quite capable of taking away also.Seth wrote:

The American thing about the possession of tools for murder being a 'natural' human right is, and remains ludicrous. If you think so, I challenge you to drop by and violate my rights sometime. Make sure your life insurance is paid up and your will is current. But you won't, because you're just a cowardly pussy and obedient sheeple who lives on the other side of the planet where you think you're safe. Whatever. We have the guns, you don't, and nobody's taking them away from us without a fight, so what you think is just so much fecal matter to swirl away down the toilet.
Oh, and fuck the U.N. and it's documents, every single one of them. They don't apply to me, I'm an American.

I quite like most Americans. There are a lot of very nice Americans - good people.Seth wrote: They don't apply to me, I'm an American.

I haven't seen anything insane about his worldview, just foreign. And I've seen no lack of intellectual competence from him, either. He's doing the same thing we're doing: promoting and/or defending our worldviews. It happens that his and mine differ somewhat on this point, but I have no less respect for him as either a person or an intellect for it. The data are complex and easy to misinterpret, and I make my share of mistakes wrt that. His heart is in the right place. He wants to save lives. He's just choosing one of the least effective ways of going about it.Seth wrote:Yup, but he's just ignoring anything that doesn't fit his insane little worldview again so it'll roll off his microscopic intellect like water off a duck.FBM wrote:Agreed, but at some point you brought up the number of deaths in the US related to guns, and this is relevant to that. Thank you for those comments FBM.
I can also add that I am discussing guns because that is what this thread is about. I agree there are other ways of saving lives which would do even more. A discussion of the harm caused by tobacco would be relevant to that. Or greasy fast food. Or alcohol.

You appear pretty much alive to me. Maybe you are that hypothetical mutant who thrives on consuming toxins? Personally, I do not smoke. I try to avoid greasy food, but I love my food so much that I am nevertheless overweight. And I drink far too much good red wine. Yum! However, I am assiduous in my exercise program, and my blood pressure is low, along with cholesterol and resting pulse, despite being in my 60's. There is hope yet.
