Voted for Mittens, even though I'm no big fan of his. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise me.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Mittens

Based on census numbers and budgetary expenditures, we spend in the US about $60k per year for each family living below the poverty line. We don't under spend when it comes to the poor, but we could certainly spend the money more effectively.Pensioner wrote:Mittens

I voted for the Mittster because he smiles and laughs a lot, and he's also very physically affectionate with his partner Eddie Munster. So he seems like a nice guy. Plus I think it's time for change, so naturally I'd like him to re-implement the same failed policies from Dubya's reign of terror that fucked up this country so bad in the first place. Also, through Bain, he's taken over quite a few companies, fired the employees, sent their jobs to China, and cheated on his taxes. So I know he's a shrewd businessman, and I think the country will be in good hands with him at the I'm-wearing-my-magic-underpants helm

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

So. Like four years ago, the navel gazing and hand wringing will separate the GOP into two camps: the tea party, who will claim that they would have won if they'd nominated a more-conservative candidate, and the rest of the right wing, who will blame Romney specifically.
They seem to instinctively know that the first assertion is bullshit. A Santorum with the nomination would have lost by a lot more than Romney did. That's why they didn't nominate him in the first place. But almost everything the tea party believes in is bullshit.
Those who blame Romney specifically will have some substantial complaints. His choice of a pathological liar as running mate, his own inability to stop monotonously lying for just a few months, and his refusal to reach out to Americans who aren't old/white/Christian/male/wealthy will all stand out to rational observers.
But the right wing in the U.S. has no rational observers.
And ultimately, all that matters is money. Four years from now, we'll have Chris Christie anointed by the Koch/Adelson/Rove gatekeepers, and the same thing will be playing out.

Lush Rimbaugh will be the GOP candidate in 2016. After that there will be no more GOP.

What time do we get the results? Will they still be counting when I get up tomorrow?
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

They might be, but I don't think they start releasing results until the polls close in California, 7 PM PST.PsychoSerenity wrote:What time do we get the results? Will they still be counting when I get up tomorrow?

Re: Election Day, USA!
Today's Rasmussen poll only had Romney up by 1 point in general election. Adjusting for Rasmussen being Rasmussen, that's a pretty decent Obama lead.
