Accounts merged after name mix-up by Prudential

Tens of thousands of pounds ended up in the wrong account following a mix-up over two customers with the same name and date of birth.

Insurance company Prudential mistakenly merged the records of the two customers in March 2007.

The mix-up, which continued for more than three years, resulted in tens of thousand of retirement savings ending up in the wrong account.

Prudential UK has been fined £50,000 by the Information Commissioner.

"This case would be considered farcical were it not for the serious sums of money involved," said Stephen Eckersley, the commissioner's head of enforcement.

I read about this somewhere else.
Apparently the guys name was Windy Shepherd-Henderson.
Why would you merge two accounts, just because the name was the same? Lots of people have the same name.
Apparently, there is someone with the same name as me, but I have no idea who.

My ex-bank did that to me and my mom when they changed computer systems. Unfortunately, they linked her card to my account, not the other way around. I realized the error when I found a $275 pair of shoes on the bill. My flip flops usually cost about $10. Took weeks to sort it out.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Evidently my neurologist has another patient who shares my name and birthday. I saw him a while ago about a minor nerve problem in my arm. He looked at my records, got a perplexed look on his face, and said, "wait a minute; you're not the one with a brain tumor."

It took several minutes for my pulse to return to normal.
I think that language has a lot to do with interfering in our relationship to direct experience. A simple thing like metaphor will allows you to go to a place and say 'this is like that'. Well, this isn't like that. This is like this.

I have the same full name and birthday as a deceased veteran. At one point somebody in the VA decided there was a problem and changed all my Social Security Numbers to that guy's. So a dead guy was getting treatment several years after he died. And then they came after my wife for collecting benefits after I'd died. I had to meet with six doctors who had treated me to convince the gubbermint that I was not dead.

The vote on that was 5-1, if you're wondering. One doctor didn't like me much, probably because I called him an idiot in the operating room.

That all sounds a bit suspicious to me.
Have you got any proof that you're still alive? That doctor must have had his reasons.
You could actually be brain dead. How could anybody tell the difference?

I have to disagree there.
I'm sure there would be some improvement, but not to that extent.

Good point, well made.
