What's sad about that thread is that people are arguing with the guy, when he's obviously just having a laugh. I learned quickly there that they don't seem to have much humor outside of the humor forum, so I stay there.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=246797

Hmmm... Then it seems like he's poking fun at himself, and they're still being too serious about it. But, like I said, I don't venture out into the main forums so I don't really know the culture there. Which doesn't stop me from commenting onnit, dussit?Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Anders is a notorious CTer, and they're telling him to piss off, politely.amused wrote:What's sad about that thread is that people are arguing with the guy, when he's obviously just having a laugh. Everything all right here (read-- upper Manhattan). MTA still down, most bridges open to emergency vehicles or doctors and other medical professionals.
Some scaffolding and trees down, caused damage, totalled cars. We still have power, etc.
Very, very glad we don't live in the cooler part of town. It's a mess.

I buy my coffee there! (new place where the shoe repair used to be.)

Ah, yes! I haven't been back to the old neighborhood in quite a while. Does Ahn still have his grocery shop on the corner? Very good man, Mr. Ahn.hadespussercats wrote:orpheus wrote:

I think that language has a lot to do with interfering in our relationship to direct experience. A simple thing like metaphor will allows you to go to a place and say 'this is like that'. Well, this isn't like that. This is like this.

Well, NYC and the Jersey Shore were sure handed a crap sandwich. Anyone care to bet on how much relief money or supplies we get from any other country on the planet? I say under 5 million dollars at best. As compared to the billions we hand out every time some shithole like Haiti gets all shook up.

They got priced out of the place by their landlords, almost a year ago.
Now I have to trek down to Jin's if I want good produce.

And, you can't replace someone like Ahn, whose business was really part of the community. He had pics of neighborhood kids up, always a smile for my little one...
