There's a bit of a haze obscuring my view of the moon, but I'm holding up rather well out here in the central plains.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Looking really bad over there, you guys and gals stay safe.

All quiet here so far.

Our lights are flickering-- according to the community listserve, that's happening all over. So we might lose power.

Oh, and there were some impressive transformer explosions, across the river in the Palisades. Apparently some people in the hood can smell the electrical fire.

Same here.

Some rather dangerous sunshine and my ears are hurting slightly from the soft sound of tuis tweeting, but we're coping.

I think everyone should be kept updated by us from time to time, though.

Reminds me of growing up in MS and the annual shit-yourself hurricanes and tornados. Except we didn't have a neighborhood, unless you count the cow pasture.

The Metro is closed again tomorrow, which means all the stores are closed too. Including the liquor stores, dammit.

I Hope all the Ratz are safe and dry. A couple of my FB friends are close to the wet bits but they are dealing with it like New Yorkers .
