If someone breaks into my home, my goal is to stop the threat to myself. If I display a gun and they flee or surrender, the gun has done its job without a shot being fired and nobody being killed. This is a preferable outcome, in fact. If I am forced to shoot to defend myself, the goal is still only to stop the threat to myself, and if shooting them accomplished the goal of incapacitating them without killing them, the gun has still done its job without killing anyone. Killing is not the desired outcome, as the idea of having to pull a gun on someone is unappealing enough, let alone the thought of having to kill someone.Blind groper wrote:So, Wumbo, like the rest of the irrational rationalia people, you think that guns do not kill?
But you know all this, because we've gone down all these roads before and you've tried your best to paint me as an irrational gun nut with cowboy fantasies who can't wait to shoot a bad guy. You and mistermack have attempted this many times, and have failed in each and every attempt. One day you will have to accept the fact that it's entirely possible for a rational person to come to a different conclusion than you on the topic of gun ownership.
