Re: 2012 US Election -- Round 2
Not sure how electoral-vote.com still has Pennsylvania as a "likely Obama" state when the polls are leaning Romney now. http://washingtonexaminer.com/poll-show ... IFUD8XNaSp -- Realclearpolitics.com has Pennsylvania as a toss-up.
And, how do you explain the fact that Obama is campaigning hard for 4 days in New Hampshire. They have Biden out in Nevada, an in the most important state to the Dems -- Ohio -- they have Clinton and Springsteen. LOL. Guess why? They know that they're best bet is to NOT have Obama campaigning in Ohio...

Um... where did I say RCP was no good anymore, Mr. Defensive?Coito ergo sum wrote:LOL - so, real clear politics, not good anymore? Thought so...Ian wrote:This website has a very good track record: http://www.electoral-vote.com/
And then there's the always-impressive 538: http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/The gap has narrowed considerably on 538.org. Was much wider a few weeks ago.

I prefer those two sites (and always have over RCP, btw) because they focus more on state-by-state polls and I think RCP factors national polls a bit too much. The US doesn't have a national election, we have 51 separate elections.
Of course the 538 narrowed from a few weeks ago. The 1st debate in Denver shook things up. But if you look closely, you'll see that things have started to balance out again, i.e. Obama's chances of winning have been ticking back up.

Mitt Romney Profited By At Least $15.3 Million From Auto Bailout: Report

A new report running Thursday in The Nation finds that Romney and his wife, Ann, made at least $15,000,000.3 million -- and perhaps tens of millions more -- as a result of bailout funds paid to General Motors. The story, an early copy of which was provided to The Huffington Post, is written by investigative reporter Greg Palast and was backed by the The Investigative Fund at The Nation Institute.

RCP doesn't factor national polls into their electoral college map. They are a clearinghouse of a host of polls, but when doing the electoral map, it's a meta of various polls state-by-state.Ian wrote:Um... where did I say RCP was no good anymore, Mr. Defensive?Coito ergo sum wrote:LOL - so, real clear politics, not good anymore? And, following this daily, there hasn't been any leveling, it's been going slightly more Romney day by day. The fact that PA may even be in play, and the fact that Michigan can be considered a toss-up or near toss-up, ought to be a huge concern to Obama.

Funny, though, that Romney opposed the bailout, given that he stood to gain so much by it.
I can't even site the Weekly Standard or National Review, in conjunction with other mainstream sources, without whatever is reported being dismissed out of hand. HuffPo, The Nation, and Greg Palast are to be considered good sources? Yawn.

Ian and CES, I love the fact that you two can't even agree on an interpretation of the polls

I like to think I'm far more objective about them.Clinton Huxley wrote:Ian and CES, I love the fact that you two can't even agree on an interpretation of the polls

Case in point: after the first debate, I said that we'd have to wait about a week to see the full extent of how much Obama would take a hit in the polls. After the 2nd debate on Tuesday, Coito was on the next morning discussing how they polls didn't seem to have budged.

Aren't they different ways of serving?
But, since not serving in the military is now a big deal for Democrats, consider that neither Obama nor Biden served. Biden got 5 deferments from Vietnam. Obama could have served in the first Gulf War, but opted not to.
So, why is it such a big deal that Romney didn't serve?

Look Who Cleaned Up On The Auto Bailout: Mitt Romney

Apparently, if a new investigation conducted by the Nation’s Greg Palast and The Investigative Fund at The Nation Institute is correct, Mitt “Let Detroit go bankrupt” Romney profited greatly from the auto bailout – specifically via the cash-infused resurrection of former GM subsidiary Delphi Automotive – through a blind trust held in the name of Ann Romney.
