NICE shot. Not only are the ommatidia visible, but the ocelli too. Love the body pattern on this species.

Thanks. I was expecting disappointment, but when I opened the file, the details were a pleasant surprise, especially the ocelli and the intricate dimpled patterns on the cuticle.

Thanks, XC. It was mostly luck, of course. Very, very shallow depth of field, and my eyesight isn't up to that challenge.

I had to shoot a good few shots of Palomena prasina before hitting upon a close up that really did this insect justice. Which I think I've already posted here some time ago ...

It's not easy, is it? Sometimes I make 50 exposures to get one worth looking at.
