What kind of moron are they recruiting these days?A British policeman put his colleagues on alert as he investigated a "suspicious bright light" -- only to find it was the moon, an in-house magazine for the police reported Wednesday.
Police magazine reported that the hapless officer only realised his blunder after warning his fellow constables in Worcestershire, central England, that he might require back-up.
The magazine's Dogberry column revealed: "While single-crewed on night duty in Worcestershire a PC called up his sergeant letting him know that he was going up into the Clent Hills to investigate a 'suspicious bright light' that he could see shining from the other side of the hills.

I'm suspicious of the moon as well, so I can relate. Just what is the other side of the moon hiding exactly. Come on, moon, show me what you're hiding! You have nothing to fear if you have nothing to hide.

Well to give you an idea...a friend of mine who's trying to become a police officer, believes that Egypt has two suns. He thinks the solar system has two suns but the other one can only be seen from Egypt.JacksSmirkingRevenge wrote:http://uk.news.yahoo.com/british-police ... 49328.html

Of course he's been corrected now, however still lacks education in many areas.

Worcestershire? That explains it, then. He's obviously on the sauce
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

I will take any excuse
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

It's embarassing, but it can easily happen.
You get an unusual break in the clouds, and the reflectd light from the moon can look like it's coming from the earth. You can get really weird effects.
And if the moon isn't directly visible, you might well think someone has a strong light shining, out in the sticks.
At least he didn't claim he'd seen a UFO.

One day I was sitting on my balcony in Yorkshire, when a large, glowing, yellow ball appeared in the sky. It felt HOT! I ran inside, grabbed my bow and arrows and shot it. I must have wounded it because it disappeared and the sky was a normal grey again.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I remember one night when I looked at the sky and saw a bright white light racing along.
It took me a full half second to realise it was the planet Venus with clouds blowing in the wind giving the appearance that Venus was moving. So I understand how easy it is to be fooled.

For every human action, there is a rationalisation and a reason. Only sometimes do they coincide.
