Last week's super nacho plate, for example, offered just eight tortilla chips.
http://www.jsonline.com/news/education/ ... 24676.html

I don't know what to laugh at first. That a "super nacho" plate had only 8 tortilla chips involved, or that the new "healthy" federal guidelines offer as a "healthy" lunch a "super nacho plate." LOL

I mean, gimme a fucking break.

Good! That's the way it should be, anyway. The school cafeteria is, I strongly suspect, incapable of preparing a school's worth of healthy lunches. Everything they make has to be pre-made stuff, and it's going to largely suck no matter what they do. I can only imagine what the black bean hummous tasted like when made for a school. Probably like wet sand.

Shoot the Republican members of Congress and it would be fixed already. You may bullshit away about that not being true, but I really don't care, your crap still stinks.
you can keep forgetting about the Democrat majority in both the House and the Senate for two years all you want, but that dog won't hunt.

obama is the one saying he can't do the job, and you and many of his supporters are saying he couldn't have been expected to fix it. Time to move on. Reagan did it with some worse strikes against him in 1980 which he "inherited" from another Democrat incompetent.

Nachos can be made healthy, I do it all the time. And for a kid, 8 tortilla chips should be plenty as long as there's plenty of healthy toppings. Tomatoes, low fat cheese, salsa, lettuce, ground turkey or lean ground beef, onions....nachos don't have to have liquid fake cheese, greasy beef and sour cream!

Not if you make them like "nachos." Sure if you take "baked" tortilla chips (which taste like cardboard) and load them up with spinach and ricotta cheese, you can have a very healthy nacho. But, I submit that isn't really a nacho.

low fat cheese served at a cafeteria for $2.50 is "liquid fake cheese," and the "lean ground beef" is greasy beef. That's the essential problem. The cafeteria is going to serve some version of crap. That's why the new foods are getting such a bad reaction. Crap food like "Salisbury Steak" and those little square pizzas they used to have back in the day at least tasted o.k., even though they were just filler. However, try to serve a plate of mixed vegetables at a cafeteria and you get tasteless, soggy carrots and beans. It's a matter of practicality, and all the good intentions in the world won't change that.

EDIT: And, to add -- nacho chips are not a meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner. They're a snack. This is, however, where we've come in the world. I've literally listened to a person lambaste McDonald's and fast food as unhealthy, while at that very moment cutting up hot dogs into small pieces for her child to eat for dinner, along with "Tater Tots." I think my tongue started bleeding from me biting it so hard....

Yes, people are usually correct when they envision those with opposite opinions are like this:

I'm sure you're correct in thinking that the Republicans want to destroy the world. Seems legit...

You have proof otherwise? So far the Repulsives are acting like selfish brats.

And I"m still waiting for your apology for Bush II.

When you provide your proof that the Democrats aren't the socialist evildoers that Seth calls them, I'll take your nonsense seriously.

Because I have the far-right wing on ignore here, and don't see them dutifully providing cover-fire for their conservative religionist masters, this page of this discussion is so far nothing but a rabbit vibe smoking a cigarette and a nachos recipe!

I love this forum.

The poor pampered privileged football jocks poo-poo-ed the meal plan.

Awwwww. If local accountability works so well, then why were school lunches always crap?
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

At my kids' school, there's a salad bar with fresh fruit and vegetables at the end of the line every day. No kid in line is allowed to go through without getting some (the kids who pack don't have to wait in line).

Yeah, because kids vote. :hehe:
My meaning was this is all the GOPpies have to complain about. :coffee:
You mean other than the still shitty economy, the skyrocketing debt adding $1.2 trillion a year, more debt monetization and quantitative easing, high inflation on necessaries, doubled gas prices during the Obama administration, unemployment over 8% and real unemployment at about 11%, lowest percentage of population in the workforce in like a half century, taxmaggeddon on the horizon in 90 days, a shitty housing market, lowest homeownership rates in decades, 47 million Americans on food stamps, the shittiest economic recovery in nearly a century, anemic growth in both jobs and gdp (barely keeping us out of a "technical" recession)....

Peak unemployment in the early 1980's was higher than it is now -- and back then it was coupled with extremely high inflation and very high interest rates at the same time. That's what Reagan inherited, and nobody went around saying "he can't fix it immediately!!!" He did the right economic things in his first term and got it turned around. Today, interest rates are way down and inflation, we are told, is fairly low -- back then inflation was in double digits and interest rates were so high people had mortgages with rates like 10% and more - for the last 8 years, interest rates for mortgages have been like 4% to 5%.

If Obama can't fix it, then move on. Let someone else have a go.
He can fix it. He just needs cooperation, and he's not getting any from Republicans. He also needs more time. With everything you listed, no one could fix it all in one term, especially with no cooperation.
He said he could fix it in THREE years, and if he didn't, he was a "one term President." I'm holding him to that promise. Get the fuck out of the White House you Marxist bastard.

And thank God for the Republicans standing firm against his Marxist Progressive agenda. A do-nothing Congress is absolutely the best thing that can happen to this country, without question. They passed fewer bills this session than during FDR's "Do Nothing Congress." Good on them. I love gridlock in Washington, it means that they can't get together enough to fuck with us so much.

I think we ought to limit Congress like they do in Texas... they meet once every TWO years for a maximum of 30 days.

Of course you do, because you're afraid to have your preconceptions and prejudices challenged. You want to live in your own little liberal fairy-world where unicorns fly around farting rainbows and everybody agrees with you.

Why the fuck are you here? Why don't you go to RatSkep for that kind of mutual masturbatory circle jerk?
