Is that why we supported Muslim Kosovo over Christian Serbia? Because we support Christianity everywhere in the world?

What a load of horse bollocks your statement is.

The comment about deploring insulting religion is designed to placate a violent mob. That's all.

His essential apologies for the "arrogance" of America and kowtowing to foreign leaders, etc. -- over the last three years have added up to a rather apologetic and supine posture.
LOL! "Essential apologies"...nice try.
Did he ever say "I'm sorry or I apologize" -- not that I can find, except in relation to the accidental burning incident.
Right...never apologized except for when it was warranted.
But, it's the overall gist or message -- one doesn't have to use the exact words to get a particular message across. It's like the constitution not expressly or literally saying "separation of church and state" but any reasoned application of the First Amendment's language is that it erects such a wall of separation.
If that's the best you have, it speaks for itself.

Frankly, I can't believe you would even attempt to argue against the proposition that the US is Christian and that our government supports Christianity here and abroad. I see your counter example as a fart in a hurricane.

Why should the US government be held responsible for the actions of a few citizens? In the face of misconceptions about the US government actually supporting the content of the speech, he was right to set the record straight. Obama is not apologising for free speech when he distances himself, the US government, and the majority of the US people from the content of some of it. Some Muslims and some Republicans can't seem to get that distinction.

In the case of people in the employ of the US actually insulting Islam, I think it was appropriate to apologise. Our government has no business gratuitously insulting the religion of our allies.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

We support Mammon and make Christian noises.

Right - he didn't use those exact words, like "I'm sorry," so it's not literal. But, in context, he was apologetic.

It wasn't warranted in the accidental burning thing either. We don't have a national apology over someone burning the American flag, do we? It was just a way to placate unreasonable, violent people.

And, he was apologetic, despite not using the words "I apologize."

Admitting we aren't Perfect McPerfectstein is not apologising.

The links are a sad grasping at straws.

At least Obama doesn't suck Saudi Royal Cock like the Bush family.

LOL -- it's not about Bush. Bush hasn't been President for four years. This is about Obama, and he's been licking enough asshole to last a lifetime.

Yeah right. "I just luv drawing Mohammed.....as long as I can do it anonymously".
Right - he didn't use those exact words, like "I'm sorry," so it's not literal. But, in context, he was apologetic.
That's your opinion.
It wasn't warranted in the accidental burning thing either.
Seriously? The US gov't accidentally burns a bunch of books that are holy to a group of people we're trying to be allies with, and you don't see that as a reason for the US gov't to say "Sorry 'bout that"? FFS.
LOL -- keep drinking the Kool Aid.
Riiiiiight....images of a US President following diplomatic protocol. How shocking!
Barack Obama: 'arrogant US has been dismissive' to allies
President Barack Obama has offered an apology for the Bush era, declaring that America had “shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive” towards its allies.

That's not an apology, that's describing reality. The Bush approach to foreign policy was "you're either with us or against us" and "we'll do whatever we want, whenever we want, and fuck anyone who dares to object".

And none of those are actual apologies. Just right-wingers thinking that the US is absolutely perfect and cannot ever do anything wrong. You do understand the difference between "Yeah, my predecessor was kind of a dick, but I'm here now and things will be different" and "The US Gov't officially apologizes for the Bush years", don't you?

No...I doubt you do.

I may not be right about everything I've ever said and not everything I've ever done has been absolutely perfect.

That covers all that apologising I may have forgotten to do in my lifetime?

I don't get myself how Obama being diplomatic and performing custom in another's country when greeting their leaders is supposed to equal "ass-kissing" either :?

What did you expect him to do? Walk up to the Japanese with an extended hand and at the last second pull it back and nose them? Slap the Japanese President's wife with a back hand and flip the Leader the bird and strut off?

Can someone enlighten me?
