There is a complete spate of American actors who do the Irish accent like they learned it from Derby O'Gill, people as noteworthy as Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, all equally diabolical, but I was watching The General the other day and thought Jon Voight's culchie Garda accent was brilliant.
Seen at the start of this trailer.

Trivia: the second person talking, the journalist, is Jason Byrne.

Bob Hoskins in Roger Rabbit. As already mentioned, Hugh Laurie. Keith Urban does a passable redneck when he sings.

Hugh Laurie is great. I don't think Dominic West from the Wire is that great, he lets his accent slip through here and there quite often (him doing the fake/bad British accent in the undercover episode was hilarious though). The guy who played Stringer Bell though (Idris Elba), he was perfect.

Yeah, I forgot about Stringer Bell. He definitely had me fooled. Man, that guy's 'Merkin is flawless.
