I have no idea what your post meant. i've asked you a few times to explain it. Why won't you?

CES,

Go back and read my post and Ian's post that I was responding to, and come back and tell me if you really, truly thought I was making a serious attempt to attribute a statement to Romney.

Oh, and let me know if you really, truly had no idea what my point was.

Here it is -- and you're dodging --

Ian wrote:The State Dept. doesn't know how to deal with the fact that some people don't understand diplomacy.

These mobs attacked US consulates because they either don't understand the difference between an amateur American filmmaker and official US policy, or else they're just venting towards the closest American presence they can find. So the State Dept. issues a statement trying to clear up the first issue on behalf of the second one. Defusing the tension is a responsibility they have - they've got embassies all over the muslim world to worry about.
Exactly. Apparently according to Romney and some of his supporters, the US embassies in the middle east should have issued a collective statement saying, "Fuck all Muslims and their fraud of a prophet".
So, let's look at this. Ian said the consulate was trying to defuse tension, so they posted a message designed to do that, which is why they posted the "we deplore the denigration of religion" thing.

You then responded: "Exactly." You are in full agreement -- yes?

Then you say "Apparently" -- meaning "it appears" -- that Romney "and" some of his supporters (both) - think the US embassies in the middle east should have issued a collective statement saying, "Fuck all Mulsims and their fraud of a prophet."

The options are these:

1. you meant that quote as a quote.
2. You mean it as a paraphrase of his attitude or intent or opinion.
3. You mean something else.

You've said it was not number 1.
I assumed it was number 2, but, of course Romney hasn't said anything of the kind, whether a quote or words to that effect.

But, you keep dodging rather than clarifying. What do you mean?

LOL. Not dodging a thing...just amusing myself watching you either 1) gin up something...anything to attack me on, or 2) truly struggle to comprehend a fairly basic point that doesn't seem to have tripped up anyone else.

So.....

The embassy in Cairo puts out a statement that, as Ian pointed out, was designed to try and defuse tensions in the area. Romney immediately comes along and blasts "the administration" for that statement because he sees it as too weak and appeasing (i.e. he characterized it as "expressing sympathy" for the attackers). That was a very stupid, naive, and desperate thing to do, which is why he's getting blasted for it, even within the GOP camp. But I'm wondering...WTF did he expect the embassy in Cairo, where protests were ongoing and having possibly heard about what happened in Libya, to say? "Fuck all Muslims and their fraud of a prophet?"

Now, those of us not lacking in cognitive abilities recognize that as using hyperbole to make a broader point, in this case Romney's attack on the embassy statement showing a total lack of understanding of the situation.

That isn't very hard. Your posts just tend to be baseless, unsupported assertions, like the "saved or created" statistic you trumpeted...

I'm not "struggling" with anything. I asked you a simple, straightforward question. go back to our exchanges. When you ask me a question, like your string of "like what?" questions when we were talking about taxes and economic policies, I answered you straight out, and politely. No dodging. I gave you the courtesy of a response. I think I'm entitled to the same thing.

This is strike three - you can't seem to keep this civil and you constantly have to impute things like "lack of cognitive abilities." I warned you about it twice before.

Go fuck yourself.

Anyways...

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/20 ... -response/

Romney puts out talking points that include:
Governor Romney rejects the reported message of the movie. There is no room for religious hatred or intolerance.

Governor Romney repudiated this individual in 2010 when he attempted to mobilize a Quran-burning movement. He is firmly against any expression of religious hatred or intolerance.
Now, what was the statement put out by the Egyptian embassy that Romney jumped to condemn? Oh yeah...

"The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims — as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions."

Pretty much the exact same sentiment. What an incompetent campaign.
