I'm not even sure you need government funding. There's already at least one charity doing this on a limited basis:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Prevention

I need to remember to put them on my charitable donation list.
The criticism of the project talks of 'Sterilization of drug-addicts as unethical'.

I assume they mean that forced sterilization is unethical. This I agree with.
However the 'C.r.a.c.k.' offers are voluntary.

If OTH they mean that drug addicts are unable to make a valid decision about their own health/bodies issue, then surely they should be absolved of criminal behaviour. If you can’t make valid decisions about your own body, how on earth can you make valid decisions about your own behaviour?

My point is that objections to such plans on ethical grounds are false.

I still deserve the money, since I'm not reproducing...

No. To not have children is your choice. If you want to forfeit your chance, get the snip then you get the dosh. That's the 'rules' of this offer.

If you want to make a different offer with your own your rules that's your right.

You must be paid to have more children. Lack of adequate resource management in closed system economies leads to more conflict, more conflict means higher ratings.

A good idea is bad if it looks bad?

And if I said it was aimed, that would suddenly make it a bad idea?

It is an offer, no-one is mandated to take it up. It's open to everyone irrespective of class, colour, wealth, sex, hirsuteness, whatever (species, if you like :hehe:).
I understand the intent, but the resulting effect would be whites paying for coercive sterilization of mainly non-whites.

Great idea in theory but it would also have the side effect of sending STD rates through the roof
And?

Indira Gandhi instituted a program that made sterilization a prerequisite for various government licenses, and as I recall, government employment, in some parts of India. Shortly thereafter, she lost power.

I can't see it catching on in any first world country. They generally don't have a problem with too many births.
It's too much immigration that causes over-population in many of these countries. It would be ludicrous to pay people not to have kids, and at the same time allow millions of unskilled people to come in from the third world.

And it would be considered racist for rich countries to subsidise sterilisation in poor countries. It would certainly be real exploitation, to offer money to the poorest, for sterilisation.

Not that I would care. The world is over-full. Something needs to happen.

Bug it, we're being invaded by those beings who screw without minding the consequences and pop'em by the litter, we have a right to help them curb their rampant natality, it's our enlightened interest as well as theirs.
