Save us, Wealth-Creator Man!
Heroic wealth creators, my ermine-clad backside. Corporate parasites more like. That's you, Romney.

Re: Save us, Wealth-Creator Man!
The GOP philosophy on job creation seems to be, "If billionaires and corporations just had more money, they would start hiring workers", despite the fact that top marginal rates are at the lowest they've been in 60 years and corporate profits have been at record highs for some time now.
What they seem to be lacking are customers.

They would just outsource the jobs offshore.Gerald McGrew wrote:The GOP philosophy on job creation seems to be, "If billionaires and corporations just had more money, they would start hiring workers", despite the fact that top marginal rates are at the lowest they've been in 60 years and corporate profits have been at record highs for some time now.
No jobs, no customers, because nobody has money. This is the imbecility of the Job Creator bullshit. They don't want to give up any more money that absolutely necessary, despite the fact that they would make more money if they spent more money. The primal greed has a death grip on their minds. What they seem to be lacking are customers.

Hahahaha. Now please, explain how that works.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:.... despite the fact that they would make more money if they spent more money.

It doesn't due to supply and demand. The market is only as big as consumers can afford it to be.

Simple. They build a factory and hire workers. The workers get paid. Part of the pay will be spent on products. If you pay the workers enough they will even start buying luxury products. Don't pay them enough and you can't sell your products.Drewish wrote:Hahahaha. Re: Save us, Wealth-Creator Man!
Lack of demand is regularly cited as the #1 reason why business aren't hiring.

And why is there such a lack of demand? The vast majority of our population holds a ridiculously small proportion of our country's wealth...

Lack of demand due to lack of pay because the Wealth Creators are saving money by having foreigners make the goods. Brilliant system.

Re: Save us, Wealth-Creator Man!
Do you think they'll get more money by doing that than by doing what they're doing right now? Like hiding their money in the Caymans and Switzerland, hiding their revenue, and making a lot of interest and other kinds of investment. These "wealth-creator" people are smart and probably know the best way to make money from their existing money. Since most of them don't do the VC and factory-building shit that should probably tell you something.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Simple. They build a factory and hire workers. The workers get paid. Corporate profits are at an all-time-high, but wages are at pre-New Deal level lows.
A reckoning is coming. One way or another, it's mathematically inevitable; even a Democrat like Obama cannot yet reverse this course. With any luck, we'll merely see another version of the New Deal emerge in the next decade or so. If we're unlucky, we'll see another version of the French Revolution.
Mind the Gini Index.

Fuck even Henry Ford knew he had to pay his workers enough to afford his products.Hahahaha. Now please, explain how that works.
If you hollow out the middle class by exporting jobs then you export the ability to pay for the products.

I always believed that communism in terms of the revolutionary process was not dead but that the collapse of the Soviet Union was simply a stage that had run its course. I'm no brainwashed Marxist, but anyone can see that this state of affairs can't go on and that people won't tolerate the very rich getting even richer and the middle classes and the poor becoming one large rather poor mass which the richest can just exploit as they wish to make even more money.

Re: Save us, Wealth-Creator Man!
The US economy is just squeezing by because purchasing power is always going up (we can purchase more with our dollar), due to things like outsourcing and mainstreaming production and technology. But real wages are going down and have done so, since like the 60's.
So say that we bring jobs back to the US, our PP will definitely go down, cuz it's way cheaper having some developing country do the labour. The problem is: will the wages go up, while PP declines? These will be menial jobs we'll be getting back from the third world, so I have my doubts.

I'm uncertain people who are plutocrats are that naive that they would rig the game so they lose.
