Grab a dozen random people from here in Massachusetts, and most of the smartest ones will be libertarian.

Robust proof required.

Heh. In Massachusetts, the crazed religious folks are probably literal Satanists.

This guy is a PSYCHOPATH! I'd think this was a Poe or an Onion headline if I didn't hear him say it himself.

That is one area where I totally disagree with Ryan.

I don't see how a person could stand there, and say, advocate a rule that would require one's wife or daughter to carry the product of a rape for 9 months and give birth to it, and then live the rest of her life with that constant reminder. It seems to me to be callousness disguised as compassion. He really thinks he holds the kindest and most compassionate view on this, but he's wrong, in my view.

The fact of rape caused pregnancies should be fought with prompt and compassionate attention to the victims of rape, which would allow them to quickly obtain morning after pills or other remedies to as quickly as possible prevent or eliminate a pregnancy that should never have happened. If we would go that route, then abortion in those cases would be a rarity.

I have no "ifs" "ands" or "buts" in my opposition to Ryan on this. However, his view on that has 0 chance of ever becoming law. It's more self-righteous moralizing than anything else.

Or "It can't happen here."

I didn't say that. It's merely my assessment that it won't.

No candidate ever represents all of my views, so if I waited for that candidate I would never vote. Unlike some, I come right out and say where I disagree, whereas some others will champion and lead the cheers for their guy no matter what, even to the point of refusing criticism when it is warranted.

Sorry Paul Ryan, Even Fox News Isn’t Buying It
Tampa – Last night Paul Ryan was awarded a gold medal by Fox News and it wasn’t for delivering blunt honesty in such a way that made it palatable to the American public. Instead, the award was given for the number of lies Ryan told during his prime time speech.

Fox Contributor, Sally Kohn writes:

On the other hand, to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to facts, Ryan’s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech. On this measure, while it was Romney who ran the Olympics, Ryan earned the gold.

Kohn went on to fact check Ryan:

Fact: While Ryan tried to pin the downgrade of the United States’ credit rating on spending under President Obama, the credit rating was actually downgraded because Republicans threatened not to raise the debt ceiling
Fact: While Ryan blamed President Obama for the shutdown of a GM plant in Janesville, Wisconsin, the plant was actually closed under President George W. Bush. Ryan actually asked for federal spending to save the plant, while Romney has criticized the auto industry bailout that President Obama ultimately enacted to prevent other plants from closing.
Fact: Though Ryan insisted that President Obama wants to give all the credit for private sector success to government, that isn't what the president said. Period.
Fact: Though Paul Ryan accused President Obama of taking $716 billion out of Medicare, the fact is that that amount was savings in Medicare reimbursement rates (which, incidentally, save Medicare recipients out-of-pocket costs, too) and Ryan himself embraced these savings in his budget plan.

Paul Ryan is a devoted disciple of an ideology who is more concerned with winning than with being truthful or accurate when speaking to the American people. In Ryan’s mind, the end justifies the means, which was the same mindset communists had as they watched their entire world collapse when they clung to their communist beliefs.

The changes Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan want to make are sweeping; shut down the government, enact a flat tax, and choose war before seeking peace, and they have not been working. While Paul Ryan may be a student of both Marx and Friedman, he fails to realize that they are not science but religion, a religion that makes normally smart and practical people do really stupid and confused things. (Just watch last night’s speech for proof of really stupid and confused)

The bottom line is this: When Fox News fact checks you and calls you out for being a liar, then yes, your attempt at winning over America was an epic fail.
