Re: The new 'legitimate' rape controversy
One more thing I would point out is that people like Coito get all offended when someone has a go at US stereotypes, but how fucking backwards can an electorate be, to elect people like Todd Akin?
The only conclusion you can possibly draw, is that a majority of the voters in his constituency are even more moronic than he is.

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

An excellent point there.

Well he's hanging on in there hoping to make it through without going down in flames. He says now:
"The mistake was in the words I said not the heart I hold", whatever that means. He follows that with a request for forgiveness. As good Christians we should of course forgive him. We are, after all, made imperfect..

I was born this way, but maybe I can teach...
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

I love this new phrase we have been hearing from American politicians this last few years. 'Misspoke'. Fucking great way of backing away from total shitspeak!

True, that's the only conclusion one could possibly draw if one is that stupid. If one were think about it a for a bit other conclusions would present themselves. Unless one is too stupid to think about them. That does happen here.mistermack wrote:The only conclusion you can possibly draw, is that a majority of the voters in his constituency are even more moronic than he is.

Re: The new 'legitimate' rape controversy
I think that he probably was setting apart violent or forcible rape, from statutory rape or a rape that occurs through misunderstandings. Not all rape is forcible or violent, although all rape is wrong. Some rape occurs without the male intending to rape. The male can intend to have sex and honestly believe that the woman is consenting, but if she is, in fact, not consenting then it is rape still.Rum wrote:That women misreport it.klr wrote:"Legitimate rape?" What was he actually trying to say?
Then of course it is their own fault they are pregnant, REAL rape doesn't get you pregnant. What a fucktard.
He is, of course, still a fucktard. Because no rape is legitimate, and and to use that word is just, well, fucktarded.
I am quite interested to know, however, where he gets the idea that a woman's body distinguishes rapes from consensual sex, and reacts to prevent pregnancy. I can honestly say, I have never in my life heard such a theory espoused by anyone, anywhere. I've tried to google this idea, and I have found nothing.
Has anyone asked numbnuts where he got this idea?
