The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Unfortunately it's never been on general release on DVD, only as a BBC educational product. Which costs something like £150 a series. I've seen all the later stuff (I think), but never series 1 and 2.

Discovery science run through them all every few weeks, next time I'll sky+ the lot and then burn them to dvd if you like?

No worries. Just checked, they're running through them all, and starting again next Tuesday, so have set to record the lot.

Is this the show that blows up so many microwave ovens that it has left me with a dread of the fucking things?
