Bloodshed eh? That's unusual in synchronised swimming.

Isn't water polo a form of synchronized swimming?

That should be the main Olympics.
Right now, the Olympics are about being really careful on your drug use so you stay just below the limits. Allow unlimited drug use, and it could be about athletics again.

That did strike me as a serious grudge match alright, but I had too many other things to watch last night.
The men's 50K walk has just started. They're all mad if you ask me - and I say that as someone who's already walked 20K this morning, without eating. I just did it at a more leisurely pace than they. And you won't see the race walkers popping out for a pizza.

...
I've never seen so many yellow cards in a single game. The first handful were given to Koreans for repeatedly tackling Japan's biggest threat, Ottoman or whatever his name was, then Japan started catching up in the yellow-card race. And wild elbows. The guy who scored first for Korea caught an elbow soon afterwards that cut his cheek below his eye. Just required a bandaid/plaster thingy. Then a while later the guy who threw the elbow caught one of his own that really leaked. Had to have his whole head wrapped. There was more, but it was in the wee hours of the morning and my brain didn't record those incidents very well.

And he has threesomes with Swedish volleyball players! What a dick!
Actually I've heard he's quite nice and donates a lot of his time and money to charity organization in his native country, not to mention, he's taking these barrage of drug accusations (mostly from the Americans) in good stride. No pun.

He seems to buy into the notion that sprinters, like pro boxers, need to engage in public bragging and posturing.

This race-walking lark is as bemusing as ever. It's clear from slow-motion replays that just about everyone is breaking the rules (mainly, being in contact with the ground at all time), but only a few will ever get disqualified.
It's 25 laps of this course, which I would have thought gets very monotonous:

John Maclean (Scottish socialist) speech from the Dock 1918.
