Re: The Olympics thread
So we don't really need a medals table at all. One national anthem to be played. One set of flags. Suddenly, everything is a lot easier.Clinton Huxley wrote:I think that means we have won ALL the medals....klr wrote:... such as "we once used to rule that place". Selecting just the best two or three competitors in each event is going to be a problem though. And there'll be no-one to play in any of the team events.

Who knew dressage could be so compelling? I have spent way more time that I should watching that.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

Australia are kicking arse at the sailing with our 7th gold medal won in it today.
Congrats to Brittany Broden who won a silver medal in the diving the chinese dominate this sport but we seem to snag a medal in the last few games.

And forget the javelin. I'd rather see spears thrown at a moving target, with archery type scoring.
It would have a lot more interest and be more relevant than synchronised swimming, or those ludicrous dancing horses.
After all, we probably wouldn't be here if our ancestors hadn't been good at it.
