YOu were talking of people with multiple doctorates, not the same animal as a person who uses a doctorate as a stepping stone to a good career, or manages to get one in the course of a career.

Plus, let's face it, barring honoris causa diplomas, most people with a string of multiple high level degrees tend to get them in questionable ways, or from disreputable establishments.
