I had interesting conversation today with a colleague who grew up under Communist rule in Eastern Europe. She told me that the Republicans' adherence to dogma, requirement of uniformity of belief, and even a media outlet that espouses the party platform mirrors Soviet Communism so well. And, this is the party that calls Obama a Communist.

Methinks you forgot one little detail there, Warren!

Two Obama years afterwards, actually. Guess that "savings" isn't adding up under Obama.Ian wrote:Methinks you forgot one little detail there, Warren!

That is an outright law, we have plenty of evidence for voter fraud.
One Florida news paper had the brilliant idea to cross reference the get out of jury duty excuse of "not a US citizen" versus registered voters. They found hundreds of non-citizens illegally registered to vote in just one county this way.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

It is so clear in this thread that never the twain shall meet...
I suppose the same would be true in Oz, although most of us would be pouring shit on both our major parties...
And the fucking Greens as well, the self-righteous wankers!

The system is such that neither party can do their worst to the US, but each have done things that turned out to be less than wise in long run. My experience is that it gets a bit worse under each Republican administration, so the cumulative errors compound each other. For example, Reagan deregulated the banks, something the Republicans' owners had been wanting for a long time. The result was the recent crash as banks dabbled in all sorts of risky ventures previously forbidden to them.JimC wrote:It is so clear in this thread that never the twain shall meet...

I'm a bit the same with our "Liberals", although our current Labour Party are a bunch of incompetent, in-fighting morons...Gawdzilla Sama wrote:The system is such that neither party can do their worst to the US, but each have done things that turned out to be less than wise in long run.
