How long did the Great Depression last?Coito ergo sum wrote:Nobody asked him to fix it in six weeks. He'd had nearly a full term. He's made things worse.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:Try reading my post instead of just answering it.
The problem with the economy is Dubya's fault. Bitching at Obama because he hasn't cleaned up a Republican spawned mess quick enough is just plain ... Republican.

How many terms does he need to get something done? Hasn't had time to flush enough money down the "green jobs" toilet, investing in belly-up boondoggles and dumb product ideas? Not enough time to create more green jobs in China?

One more time, how long did the Great Depression last? You should be complaining to the source of the problem, the Republicans, they're fighting him every inch of the way, in the hope that he will fail and a Republican can get back into the White House and finish off this country.Coito ergo sum wrote:How many terms does he need to get something done? He had from January, 2009, January, 2011 with a Democrat House, and a Democrat Senate. Not enough political resources to enact what he wanted to enact?Gawdzilla Sama wrote:One more time, how long did the Great Depression last? Please -- the whining is unbecoming. He had unprecedented control of the government. He spent his political capital pushing Obamacare. Maybe he should have concentrated on fixing the economy.
And, his ideas that the Republicans oppose are things like "raising taxes" -- which even Obama knows is a drain on the economy, not a booster.
He doesn't care about fixing the economy. Don't you get that? He didn't promise to "fix" anything. He said he wanted to "fundamentally change" it. What do you think he wants to fundamentally change it to? A vibrant, capitalist economy, that is growing and expanding? Of course not! He doesn't think that is "sustainable" -- he doesn't want that -- he thinks that makes the "rich richer and the poor poorer".
He doesn't want lower fuel prices -- he wants higher fuel prices, because he thinks we pay too little for it. He has said so! Don't you take him at his word?

You want him to fix what Dubya broke and you want him to fail. That will take the country down, but for a political mind, that's okay, it's the current score that counts, not the country's future.

I don't want him to fail at fixing the economy. What he has done hasn't helped. If he gets his way on tax increases, it will hurt.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:You want him to fix what Dubya broke and you want him to fail. Maybe he can block another airplane manufacturing plant, like Boeing's proposed South Carolina plant. That would help the economy.j Or, he could cut permitting for oil drilling further. Or, he could raise costs (again) for manufacturers to participate in the Energy Star program - that way appliances would go up even higher. He could donate more money to cronies in companies like Solyndra. That'll boost the economy.
Good thing Obamacare got enacted -- CBO projects it will reduce the labor force by 800,000 people -- http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0211/49273.html and the $500 billion in taxes and $25 billion penalties imposed on on businesses by Obamacare -- that'll really juice the economy -- http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/ ... lation.pdf
How about the 2.3% excise tax on new medical devices he proposed? Big help top that industry? How about the 3.8% new investment surtax he proposed? Another boon to an industry there?
And, of course, proposing to raise the capital gains tax which will make it harder for businesses to raise capital. That's a great way to boost industry.
