I've often wondered why Wimbledon tennis club don't start spraying the dead areas of grass, when it starts to go white around the service line, after a few days tennis.
It would look better and make the line-calls easier to see.
They could make it patchy enough to look natural, and still look a million times better.

There was a disturbed elderly gentleman who used to live near my gran who painted his lawn blue, because he was a Rangers supporter.

The first time they did that kind of think, during the Great Drought of '88, turned out the dye was toxic.

I've always wanted a lawn that was like the beaches at Cannes, small rocks.

I wouldn't recommend that. It plays havoc with the mower.

Painting over the photosynthesis surface? isn't that a pretty good way to kill the vegetation for good?

Well, for one thing it's a fertilizer, and second that grass isn't going to grow much this year anyway, but by the time that wears off the grass will start right back up if the weather allows. Does it every winter now.

The good thing about grass is that it grows up from the base of the stem, not from buds on a trunk.
So it can be grazed, burned and probably dyed, and will still just keep growing from below.
It doesn't like cat's piss though.

They've been spraying dyed fertilizer on football fields, baseball diamonds, and parks since I was a kid. Nothing new here. Just stay off it until it soaks in, unless you want green shoes.

Exactly, I was wondering how this was news at all.
A rational skeptic should be able to discuss and debate anything, no matter how much they may personally disagree with that point of view. Discussing a subject is not agreeing with it, but understanding it.

Ty of course ignores the elephant in the corner.....does not fit ideological denial of AGW....
With two-thirds of the nation covered by a drought that stretches from coast to coast, residents and businesses in normally well-watered areas are catching on to the lawn-painting practice employed for years in the West and Southwest to give luster to faded turf.
no wonder the US Olympic channels need voice overs to explain things....
