Fine, then I won't bother with doing it later.Coito ergo sum wrote:Late does me no good right now.Kristie wrote:Maybe later.Coito ergo sum wrote:If you'll cheer naked, yes.
So...you don't like the guy who liked the Brits....but, you do like the guy who thinks you're bunch of colonialist arseholes...Rum wrote:Well we like Obama and as a rule the democrats. Obama sides with Argentina.... http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/nileg ... falklands/
Early in his Presidency, Gordon Brown couldn't even get a meeting with Obama.
And, remember when he gave the Brits a set of DVDs of classic movies as a gift (something anyone could buy for a couple hundred dollars max). The DVDs were given when the British Prime Minister gave Obama an ornamental pen holder made from the timbers of the Victorian anti-slave ship HMS Gannet. That was very thoughtful, since the President's desk is carved from the Gannet's sister ship. In addition, the Brits gave Obama a framed commission for the HMS Resolute and a first edition of the seven-volume biography of Churchill.
But, yeah - the "gaffe" of suggesting that there were problems preparing for the Olympics, when there were, in fact, problems preparing for the Olympics, is so much worse than giving your closest ally a set of fucking DVDs, and then siding with Argentina in a dispute over an island system that Argentina never owned and which has nothing but British citizens on it (who want to remain British citizens).... that's "statesmanship" and that's really being a friend.
Yeah - Romney is such an arsehole, and Obama is such a great guy. No wonder the "average Brit" loves him so much...
I think it was just a bit of novelty since we've never had a black prime minister and wanted to appear all tolerant and cool. He's a goon same as Romney.Coito ergo sum wrote:So...you don't like the guy who liked the Brits....but, you do like the guy who thinks you're bunch of colonialist arseholes...Rum wrote:Well we like Obama and as a rule the democrats. probably has a lot to do with your predisposition to hate the guy. What has he actually said that is arse-ish?Rum wrote:1. I am not in the least ecstatic. The man comes over as an arse though.
That isn't clear at all. I listened to and watched the video which apparently caused the kerfuffle. It seems like a manufactured thing. Someone looking to grab something they could spin into "Romney doesn't like the Brits" and then they publish articles, generally conveniently leaving out any link to the video and any direct quotations. What seems far more clear is that this was a hit piece.Rum wrote: 2. He clearly was clumsy and created a bad impression however you spin it.
Obama clearly is less of a friend to Britain than Bush was, or Romney would be. That much is certain.Rum wrote: 3. I am not as stupid as I look and I understood the contradiction you pointed out and said I was happy to live with it - in other words.
Their methods don't, statistically, do that, and haven't done that.Rum wrote: 4. I will grudgingly accept that the Republicans probably do wish the greatest good the the greatest number, but their method - make the richer richer and the poor will benefit in due course is clearly a mandate for exploitation, profiteering and oppression.
