If God had intended us to kill each others with sticks and stones, he wouldn't have given us gunpowder.

72 hour waiting period after the background check, it's actually a Florida law but it's stil Big Gummint's fault (EVERYTHING is Big Gummint's fault). However, if you have a CCW or are trading in another handgun you don't have to wait.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Re: Gunman Shooting at Dark Knight Rises Screening.
I'm sorry but that just seems ridiculous. Who are you.. James Bond, Jason Bourne? Why on earth would you need a gun in day-to-day life? I've walked around cities on my own at night.. London, Tokyo, New York, Chicago (to name but a few)... I've never felt in any way that I need a gun for any reason. Are you telling me you'd take a gun to a picnic in the park?mozg wrote: Why is it funny? I don't go to places where they don't allow me to carry my Glock. That includes a lot of movie theaters, restaurants, shopping malls and other private property where even if I disagree with the property owner I also accept their right to place conditions on entry.
I prefer to live not expecting to be raped and murdered by every person I see. If it does happen I doubt a gun would do much anyway but I'd rather not have to carry such a thing .. I'm not so much of a pessimist

Yes but who needs a gun when you have a trowel?Warren Dew wrote:You don't have to kill the guy, or even hit him, to save lives. Too bad this guy wasn't there:

"Gardener Harry Cook who defiantly stopped a man in a van from stealing his potted plants and flowers. Brave Harry Cook, 67, calmly stood in front of their getaway van before ordering them to "put the blooming things back."
Incredibly, the cowardly thieves agreed to replace the plants and unloaded the van before speeding off empty handed. Harry, a retired JCB driver, was in his potting shed in his back garden of his home in Loughborough, Leics, when he caught the raiders red-handed at 4pm on July 8."
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

We have to wear seatbelts, the only state that doesn't require their use (adults only) is New Hampshire. Motorcycle helmets are an issue. Only 19 states require helmets for all riders, and 28 require helmets for some riders (usually minors).Animavore wrote:I wonder if not having to wear seatbelts or motorcycle helmets affects their road deaths?
The biggest problem, IMO, is letting 16 year olds drive and not requiring license re-certification tests for crumblies (in most states). You're just not mature enough, IMO, to drive a car at 16, though if you'd told me that when I was 15 I'd have told you to fuck off. I'm older and presumably wiser now. Here in Florida the vast majority of accidents are caused by 1) young drivers and 2) ancient crumblies.
There are still a lot of states that allow texting while driving (how fucking stupid is that?) and other mobile phone use.

If somebody did that and announced a political or religious motive, I'd call it terrorism, no matter what the ethnicity of the shooter(s).

I wonder if mozg has been to many of those places, since he/she can't take their Glock with them. If they can't trust Americans enough that they have to walk around life packing a Glock, why would they trust foreigners?

Re: Religious gun nut kills Batman moviegoers
I consider this shooting some form of terrorism - a personal type, driven by insanity perhaps, but this person had to have something motivating them to kill a bunch of strangers in a movies theater. What it was, we don't know yet.Gawdzilla Sama wrote:If somebody did that and announced a political or religious motive, I'd call it terrorism, no matter what the ethnicity of the shooter(s).
