Nor me. But I don't know many muggers or armed robbers.
But in the UK you're more likely to be threatened with a replica than a real gun. Not nice, but not so bad.

But that's not going to happen much in the US, with concealed weapons being carried.

In the US they're mostly for show, packing one would be a bad idea, akin to having a rubber samurai sword.

This is basically the same thing. If you worship the ownership of guns, and choose violence and slaughter for your entertainment, then loonies are going to go on a killing spree on regular occasions.
It's not basically the same. The gun equivalent of those snake people would be if some guy was acting cocky with his gun, twirling it around in his fingers and stuff, and it went off and put a hole in his skull.
If one of those rattlesnake loons one day picked up a bunch of snakes and started going on a spree deliberately throwing them at people with intent to kill that would be the same.

Back in the late '50s a guy dumped over 500 rattlers into a church to prove to people that the righteous could handle deadly serpents. A whole lot of people got bit, the church only had one door and he barred that. 3-4 fatals, all kids, IIRC.

Nope, they were unbelievers, meaning Methodists. My memory is that he was going to go in and rescue them all from the snakes after they'd been properly scared. Unfortunately there was total panic and the snakes got to work before he could get in there.

It appears that guns aren't allowed by carried into this cinema, which as far as I know is a right of any private establishment, which is why no one had any. The gunman purchased a ticket then went to the back to an emergency exit and left it propped open so he could return. He then went to his car which he'd parked near this exit to get ready.
Don't quote me on that. My info isn't 100%.

It's a bit of a failure of security. One man on that door would've put an end to it.

I think it is basically the same. Not for individuals, but as a country. You maintain a policy on guns that everybody knows will lead to massacres. And then when they happen, there is dismay and amazement.

That's what's the same. It's obvious what's going to happen, and then everyone is amazed when it does. As a nation, the Americans are just as dumb as the dead fundie.

You don't get ANY politician saying, "ok, a dozen people die now and then, but it's worth it so we can have our guns". Which is what they REALLY think.

You don't think, by any chance, that he would have found some other method? A man on every fire-exit in the US is your solution?
It wouldn't stop me.

And how would he prop the door open if someone was watching the door?

What's wrong with having a gun to protect yourself? If someone breaks into my place all I can do is grab a hurley stick and hope when I get downstairs the person down there doesn't have a gun. Ok, it's fairly unlikely he would. It would probably just be some skinny, weak junkie I could easily drive off or take down if I had to but physical confrontation always comes with risk, worst case scenario I could get infected blood on myself, I'd rather be able to keep my distance and tell the prick to leave the premises.

But snakes don't kill people! People kill...no, wait. Snakes actually do kill people :ask:
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

He blocked open an exit door and went out to get his stuff..he didn't bring it in with him.

You can't expect movie theaters to search every person coming to watch a movie nor should they in any way be held responsible.
