It's madness.
Fuckin A, dude! Good to see you finally understand, must have been all my brilliantly argued posts on the subject.

Keep at it, we'll have you carryin' and buryin' in no time.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Had someone been a licensed, trained CCW permit holder, the likelihood is that many people would have been saved, and this guy would be dead.

Even folks in Norway get guns, as we saw not too long ago...

How do you know no one wasn't?

Possibly. If they were trained and experienced. It's surprisingly hard to hit a specific person when you're in the midst of a panicking crowd.

I don't see how this tragedy relates to gun ownership though. The guy was a nutter. Motivated nutters don't have a problem arming themselves.

Especially when that person is wearing a riot helmet and bullet proof vest in a darkened theatre full of smoke and the person trying to take him out has only done a few courses in weapons and shooting and has never shot a person before. It amazes me how people think it is so easy.

Ah, here be the topic. So, wiki says:
He was also described as an introverted and shy person, and as strongly involved in his local church.

He was also studying neurology and was apparently a good student 'til he just decided to leave. It's a mad case alright.

You don't have to kill the guy, or even hit him, to save lives. You just need to get him to keep his head down long enough for a few more people to escape.

If he's insane, it would be better for us to study him in the hopes of finding a treatment for his form of insanity, I think, rather than execute him.
these are things we think we know
these are feelings we might even share
these are thoughts we hide from ourselves
these are secrets we cannot lay bare.

Yeah. If you don't bottle it. It's one thing for people to posture in the gun club and talk hard about if they were there things would've been different. It's another ball-game when the bullets are whizzing past you and all you can see are muzzle flashes and people are running everywhere like crazy.

That's actually a bit odd IMHO. Someone "shy and introverted" would usually avoid being directly involved in something as social as the local church. I guess you just can't stereotype that easily. :dunno:

Looks like he had the whole gear.
• Holmes was reportedly wearing all-black ballistics gear, including a helmet, bulletproof vest, leggings, throat protector, groin protector, tactical gloves and gas mask. Police believe he set off two smoke or tear-gas devices to distract the crowd before opening fire. His car was said to be stockpiled with additional ammunition.

What's your CCW license gonna do now?

I wish there was a dozen people with guns.
It's dark and nobody know's who's shooting and why. So EVERYBODY shoots everybody.
It's every american's right.

Gas, smoke, chaos. Man in tactical gear shooting a AR-15 equipped with a 100 round drum...if only a CCW was there. I'm sorry that just is not rational or logical at all. The CCW would more than likely have caused more trouble.
